Watch: New SFW “Your Highness” trailer

Call it “Not Another Medieval Fantasy”. From David Gordon Green, the director of “Pineapple Express” and co-starring Danny McBride (enough said), “Your Highness” will yank likely Oscar nominees James Franco and Natalie Portman from the heights of arthouse drama (in “127 Hours” and “Black Swan” respectively) to the depths of bawdy stoner humor in a medieval set comedy about a pair of brothers – one brave and bold, the other not so much – who set out on a quest to rescue a damsel in distress, played by Zooey Deschanel.

Watch the new Safe for Work, slightly less funny but still pretty funny trailer below, or for a more accurate representation of the movie’s dirty joke humor, check out the previously released red-band trailer. The film hits theaters April 8, 2011.

Watch: Franco and Portman’s new trailer drops

Due out Summer 2011, the redband trailer for “Your Highness”, a new comedy from the director of “Pineapple Express” and starring James Franco and Natalie Portman has been released.

When Prince Fabious’s virginal bride-to-be (played by Franco and Zooey Deschanel respectively) is kidnapped by a wonderfully evil and camp wizard (Justin Therouax), Fabious and his brother (Danny McBride) must set out to rescue her, meeting along the way a warrior princess (Portman), a minotaur and various other fantasy film problems.

“Your Highness” is a parody of the fantasy genre and is clearly going for a “The Princess Bride” feel to it, but the trailer provides ample laughs – with the the period dialogue being interspersed with plenty of swearing and sex jokes – and surprisingly decent special effects! We also see a more humorous side to Portman, whose reputation as a serious actor should benefit from this role.

Below the cut you can watch the trailer, and let us know your thoughts in the comments.

Zooey Deschanel rumored for Betty Brant in “Spider-Man” reboot

November 10, 2010 | Posted by Linda Ge in Casting 1 Comment

Take this one with a giant grain of salt as it comes to us from the ever-unreliable desk of Showbiz Spy, but rumors are swirling now that Zooey Deschanel is being eyed for the role of Betty Brant in the “Spider-Man” reboot starring Andrew Garfield.

Assistant to J Jonah Jameson and an early love interest for Peter Parker in comic lore, Elizabeth Banks played a much more inconsequential version of the character in the Sam Raimi adaptations. There’s absolutely no word on any plot details so it’s impossible to say what role, if any, Betty will play in the reboot, but I can’t help but think Deschanel would be perfectly cast as the sassy career girl if this rumor turned out to be true. And her connection to director Marc Webber (she starred in his “(500) Days of Summer”) should make her a strong contender – if the role even exists. Time will tell whether there’s any truth to this rumor, but I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed!
