Well, I guess that answers that. Wonder Woman is in Zack Snyder’s sequel “Batman vs Superman” and she will be played by Gal Gadot, according to Variety. Gadot tested for the role and beat out competition from Olga Kurylenko and Elodie Young for what is now described as “one of the female leads” in the film.
We still don’t know many details about the film, only that Henry Cavill will reprise his role as Clark Kent/Superman, and Ben Affleck is stepping into Bruce Wayne/Batman’s shoes. No indication of how large the Wonder Woman role will be (she’s not in the title, after all) but Snyder did release this statement: “Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe. Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character.” Filming begins in February for a 2015 release, with surely more iconic characters to be cast. Nightwing, anyone?
Gadot, a former Miss Israel, appeared in the last two “Fast and Furious” franchise installments as well as “Knight and Day” and “Date Night,” so this is quite a big coup for the still mostly unknown rising star.

Ok, so it’s still not 100% officially confirmed that it’s really Wonder Woman, but add Variety to the list of sources now reporting actresses are lining up to test for an unknown role in “Batman vs Superman” that is probably, most likely, maybe Diana Prince, aka Wonder Woman.
We heard about former Bond Girl Olga Kurylenko being up for the role yesterday, and now Variety adds two more names to the list: Gal Gadot, who plays Gisele in the “Fast and Furious” franchise, and Elodie Young, who played Rooney Mara’s sometime paramour in “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.” Variety also updates that despite Jaimie Alexander basically putting herself into the ring for the role, it’s unlikely she’s in the running since she’s committed to Marvel franchise “Thor” and “Batman vs. Superman” is rival DC’s property. And just for safety, Variety states the role – albeit one that calls for “tall, brunette, athletic and exotic” actresses – could still end up just being a love interest for Ben Affleck’s new version of Batman. Filming is set to begin in February for a 2015 release, so decisions should start getting made soon.
Young played Miriam Wu opposite Rooney Mara in David Fincher’s “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,” and would presumably reprise her role if the sequels ever happen. She also played Jinx in “G. I. Joe: Retaliation.” Gadot, a former Miss Israel, appeared in the last two “Fast and Furious” franchise installments as well as “Knight and Day” and “Date Night.”

Adrianne Palicki is moving to “Coffee Town.” Variety reports the “Friday Night Lights” actress and almost Wonder Woman has landed the female lead in CollegeHumor’s first foray into feature films and will join a cast that already includes Glenn Howerton, Ben Schwartz, Steve Little and Josh Groban in the workplace comedy.
Brad Copeland wrote and will make his feature directorial debut on the film, which follows three friends “who band together when their freeloading existence is threatened.” Palicki plays Howerton’s love interest, a coffee-loving nurse. Filming is set to begin this week in Los Angeles.
Palicki won audiences’ hearts as troubled hometown girl Tyra on critically acclaimed NBC series “Friday Night Lights”, which is churning out some potential movie stars in the likes of Taylor Kitsch and Kyle Chandler. Palicki, though, seemed to have some trouble finding her breakout role, though movies like “Legion” and the titular role on a reboot “Wonder Woman” series had potential. She recently completed the female lead of Lady Jaye in “G.I. Joe: Retaliation”, out this summer, so here’s hoping this one will stick.
