Natalie Dormer joins Ridley Scott’s “The Counselor” opposite Michael Fassbender

British actress Natalie Dormer has landed a role in the highly anticipated Cormac McCarthy-scripted, Ridley Scott-directed “The Counselor”, according to THR. Michael Fassbender plays the titular role, and is joined by an all-star supporting cast that includes Brad Pitt, Javier Bardem, Penelope Cruz and Cameron Diaz. Dormer’s role is expected to be supporting in nature.

Fassbender’s Counselor is a lawyer in the film that’s been described as “‘No Country For Old Men’ on steroids.” The Counselor tries to dip his toes into the Mexican drug trade without getting himself in too deep, but of course that doesn’t work out so well when he becomes entangled with some very dangerous men (Bardem and Pitt). Meanwhile, his fiancee Laura (Cruz) gets dragged into the mess and Diaz’s femme fatale Malkina has an agenda of her own. Filming is currently underway in London.

Dormer, most known to audiences from her role as Anne Boelyn on series “The Tudors” opposite Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, has also appeared in supporting roles in films including “Captain America: The First Avenger” and “W.E.” She also completed work on Ron Howard’s Formula One biopic “Rush” with Chris Hemsworth, and is currently shooting the role of Margaery Tyrell for next season of HBO’s “Game of Thrones.”

“Man of Steel” Henry Cavill to conquer “The Great Wall”

He’s conquered Metropolis and now Henry Cavill is setting his sights on one of the Seven Wonders of the World. After wrapping Zack Snyder’s new Superman adaptation “Man of Steel” for Legendary Pictures, Cavill will tackle the studio’s “The Great Wall”, according to Variety.

Edward Zwick will direct from the screenplay he co-wrote with Marshall Herskovitz. There are no solid plot details, only that the film will delve into the mysterious circumstances surrounding the construction of the Great Wall of China. Of course, the construction having taken place almost 3,000 years ago in remote and isolated ancient China, it makes total sense that the movie should revolve around some British white guy.

Cavill was recently seen in the lead role in Tarsem Singh’s visually stunning Greek Gods epic “Immortals” and will next be seen opposite Bruce Willis in “Cold Light of Day.” He was a series regular on “The Tudors” and actually was almost cast as Superman back in 2006 when Brett Ratner was at the reigns before Bryan Singer took over and cast Brandon Routh instead.

Sarah Bolger and Crystal Reed “Crush” on Lucas Till

Looks like the major roles in the new “Swimfan” remake* are all set. Lucas Till’s now got himself a girl-next-door potential girlfriend and a crazy hot but crazy-eyed admirer, just as Jesse Bradford did before him. Variety reports TV regulars Sarah Bolger, Crystal Reed and Reid Ewing have joined Till in new indie thriller “Crush.”

Till plays an All-American high school soccer star who starts attracting some unwanted and increasingly dangerous attention from a mysterious admirer. Bolger will play his friend who wants to take their relationship to the next level, Reed an “emotionally intense” classmate who’s jealous of their friendship, and Ewing an outsider with a crush on Reed’s charcter who begins to suspect she may be up to no good. Malik Bader directs from a script by Sonny Mallhi with filming slated to begin later this month in Los Angeles.

Bolger, perhaps best known for her role as Mary Tudor on Showtime’s hit series “The Tudors”, recently wrapped “As Cool as I Am” opposite James Marsden, Claire Danes and fellow up-and-comer Thomas Mann. Reed is a regular on MTV’s “Teen Wolf” and was last seen on the big screen in “Crazy Stupid Love.” Ewing plays Dylan on “Modern Family” and was recently seen in “Fright Night” with Anton Yelchin and Imogen Poots.

* not officially a remake of “Swimfan”, but… come on.
