Liam Hemsworth Replaces Armie Hammer in Thriller “Cut Bank”

June 7, 2013 | Posted by Linda Ge in Casting 1 Comment

liamhemsworth We first heard about indie thriller “Cut Bank” more than a year ago, when Armie Hammer and Teresa Palmer had been cast alongside Sir Ben Kingsley, John Malkovich and Michael Sheen. Well, it looks like the movie is finally ready to begin shooting, but as is the case often with independent films, there have been some changes.

Hammer is no longer mentioned in regards to the film (probably too busy with “The Lone Ranger” and what not these days), but “The Hunger Games” star Liam Hemsworth is, presumably taking on the lead role Hammer vacated. Kingsley also appears to be out, with new cast additions Billy Bob Thornton, Michael Stuhlbarg and Bruce Dern in. Palmer and Malkovich remain on board, with Palmer telling Next Movie in March that she would be reuniting with “Love and Honor” co-star Hemsworth on this film. Now Hemsworth, not Hammer, will play Dwayne McLaren, a small town auto mechanic in Cut Bank, Montana, who will do anything to get out of his tiny town, which sets into motion “a series of events that will change his life, and the life of Cut Bank, forever.” Filming is set for this summer in Edmonton, Canada, and extras are now being sought.

Hemsworth was recently in Cannes promoting sequel “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire”, which comes out this November, and he’s also got a second and third sequel, “Mockingjay” Parts 1 & 2 to film. Between stints as Jennifer Lawrence’s best friend/love interest in Panem, he starred in “The Expendables 2″ and wrapped filming on upcoming thrillers “Empire State” and “Paranoia” (for which the trailer just dropped).

WATCH: First four minutes of Jonathan Levine’s “Warm Bodies” starring Nicholas Hoult

December 28, 2012 | Posted by Rebecca Lewis in Videos 1 Comment

Following a first look trailer back in November, Summit have just released the first four minutes of Jonathan Levine‘s “Warm Bodies“. An adaptation of Isaac Marion’s novel, the film star Nicholas Hoult, a zombie who goes by R – because he can’t remember anything from his human life, much less his real name.

These first four minutes introduce us to R who spends his days aimlessly wandering through a destroyed airport, dreaming of what the zombies that he passes by used to be like when they were living, breathing human beings, and briefly explaining why R thinks zombies now exist – the memory loss makes it a little confusing, after all.

And it sets the audience up nicely for the rest of the film, as at the end of the footage R and his zombie best friend (Rob Corddry) have grunted their way to a decision to head out for food.

Click below the view the clip. Also starring Teresa Palmer, Analeigh Tipton and Dave Franco, “Warm Bodies” is gearing up for a February 1st 2013 release.

First Look: Penn Badgley proposes to Teresa Palmer in first set photos from indie drama “Parts Per Billion”

December 6, 2012 | Posted by Linda Ge in Casting, Images 1 Comment

“Gossip Girl” regular Penn Badgley and Aussie rising star Teresa Palmer film a wintry proposal scene on the set of their new film, indie drama “Parts Per Billion”, and Just Jared have the photos. In the film written and directed by Brian Horiuchi, Badgley and Palmer play one couple amongst interweaving stories of three different couples who have to make life-altering decisions in the wake of an apocalyptic biological disaster. Getting hitched as quickly as possible seems like it would be a popular course to take.

Badgley and Palmer appear to be taking roles that were once earmarked for Robert Pattinson and Olivia Thirlby back in 2009, while Rosario Dawson, one of the original cast members, is still part of the project. New additions include Josh Hartnett, Gena Rowlands, Alexis Bledel and Frank Langella and filming is now underway in Detroit, Michigan.

See two photos of Badgley and Palmer below, and even more at JJ.

Watch: Teresa Palmer transforms Nicholas Hoult in first trailer for Jonathan Levine’s zombie romance “Warm Bodies”

November 8, 2012 | Posted by Linda Ge in Videos 2 Comments

Guys will do anything to get a girl, but looks like Nicholas Hoult may be about to top them all by… switching species? The first trailer for Jonathan Levine’s adaptation of Isaac Marions’ YA zombie novel “Warm Bodies” has just been released, and our first look at footage from the film seems to suggest that through the newly discovered love of Teresa Palmer‘s character Julie, Hoult’s zombie R is becoming human again.

It’s a somewhat unexpected trailer, striking a more playful and humorous tone that I had been expecting, based on my experience of reading the book. Though with Rob Corddry and Analeigh Tipton on board as the obligatory best friend figures (one zombie, one human), it probably should have been obvious. The trailer downplays what had been a major plot point in the book, that R begins to feel human after ingesting the brains and memories and feelings of Julie’s late boyfriend Kelvin (played by Dave Franco in the film). Kelvin’s role in the book is huge, but it looks like it may have been downgraded quite a bit for the film.

Being someone who loves to be surprised, this trailer caught me off guard and actually amps up my anticipation for this film quite a bit. It looks like a lot of fun with a charming, likeable cast. “Warm Bodies” had originally been scheduled to be released this summer, but will now come out on February 1, 2013 instead. See the first trailer below.

Imogen Poots, Alison Brie, Emilia Clarke and more vying for “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”

October 2, 2012 | Posted by Linda Ge in Casting 3 Comments

Imogen Poots, Teresa Palmer, “Game of Thrones” star Emilia Clarke, “Downton Abbey” star Jessica Brown Findlay and “Community” star Alison Brie are vying for “a significant new role” in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”, according to Deadline. This new report also appears to take the previously-rumored Anna Kendrick and Felicity Jones out of the running.

Chris Evans is reprising his role as the super soldier turned leader of “The Avengers” for the sequel that will take in modern times, with Sebastian Stan set to reprise his role as Bucky Barnes, who becomes the titular Winter Soldier and Scarlett Johansson returning to play the Black Widow, who shares significant history with Bucky in the comics. Anthony Mackie signed on recently to play Falcon, Cap’s longtime partner in crime in the comics, making his Marvel Film Universe debut. Anthony and Joseph Russo will direct “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” next March, with a release already set for April 4, 2014.

It’s unclear what role the young actresses are testing for, though it’s believed to be a new love interest for Steve. Could it be Sharon Carter, great-niece to Peggy Carter, the love Steve left behind in the 1940s and played by Hayley Atwell in “Captain America: The First Avenger”?

Watch: Liam Hemsworth and Teresa Palmer make love, not war in first trailer for “Love and Honor”

August 31, 2012 | Posted by Linda Ge in Videos 1 Comment

It’s Nicholas Sparks meets the Vietnam War in our first look at indie romantic drama “Love and Honor” (formerly “AWOL”), which sees Liam Hemsworth follow his army buddy who wants to reunite with his girlfriend (Austin Stowell) home, and end up falling for someone himself. Aimee Teegarden plays Stowell’s girl, and Hemsworth falls for fellow Aussie Teresa Palmer, as both of them affect their best American accents for this 1960s drama set on the University of Michigan campus.

There’s some half-hearted rumination on the ethics of war and the anti-war movement amongst college students in this Danny Mooney directed indie, but let’s get real. This is clearly a love story, with Hemsworth marveling that he’s never felt committed to anything but the army – until now. Will he return to Vietnam to risk his life fighting for his country or stay for his newfound love, and possibly get arrested for being a deserter?

“Love and Honor” has been set for a fall 2012 release, though no specific date has been given. Watch the first trailer below.

First Look: Liam Hemsworth romances Teresa Palmer in stills from wartime drama “Love and Honor”

July 26, 2012 | Posted by Linda Ge in Images Leave a comment

Aussie rising stars Liam Hemsworth and Teresa Palmer make love, not war in our first look at stills from indie Vietnam War drama/romance “Love and Honor” (previously “AWOL”).

Initially it had been reported that Austin Stowell plays a soldier dumped by his hometown girlfriend (Aimee Teegarden), with Hemsworth as his best friend who joins him in going AWOL in order to return to the United States to win her back, but that appears to have been backwards. Hemsworth and Palmer are the central romance of the film, if the stills and the first poster are any indication.

The backdrop of the tale is the anti-war movement on the campus of the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. Danny Mooney directed the film which is tentatively set for release later this year. The stills of Hemsworth and Palmer, which seem to indicate a trailer may be on its way soon, can be seen below, thanks to Just Jared.

First look at Isabel Lucas on the set of “Knight of Cups” with newest unannounced cast addition Teresa Palmer

July 8, 2012 | Posted by Linda Ge in Images Leave a comment

Imogen Poots, Freida Pinto, and now Teresa Palmer. Terrence Malick is checking young actresses off one by one as he films them frolicking on the beach with Christian Bale for his new film, “Knight of Cups.” Today we have our first look at Palmer in the waves, just like her predecessors, this time joined by an actual previously announced cast member, fellow Aussie Isabel Lucas, thanks to Just Jared.

Unlike her predecessors, Palmer is seen in the arms of Bale’s frequent beach buddy, Wes Bentley, while Lucas takes the road more traveled by strolling hand-in-hand with Bale, like Pinto and Natalie Portman before her. Thus far Palmer is the only lady seen with Bently, so could this mean her chances of showing up in Malick’s final cut are higher than her counterparts? Hard to say without any semblance of a plot or release date in sight. Bale, Portman and Cate Blanchett will move on with Malick this fall to music-centric romance “Lawless” with Ryan Gosling, Haley Bennett and Rooney Mara, but no word if any of the frolicking beach bunnies will join them as well.

See the photos of Palmer and Lucas below and head over to Just Jared for more. Which young actress will be wooed in the waves next? Felicity Jones? Brit Marling? Amanda Seyfried seems like a safe bet too. Leave us your guesses!

Armie Hammer and Teresa Palmer take on crime thriller “Cut Bank”

April 24, 2012 | Posted by Linda Ge in Casting 1 Comment

Two of our favorite up and comers are joining forces, as Deadline reports Armie Hammer and Teresa Palmer have signed on to star in indie crime thriller “Cut Bank.” They will be joined by an impressive cast that also includes Sir Ben Kingsley, John Malkovich and Michael Sheen.

Matt Shakman will make his feature directorial debut on the project from a 2009 Black List script by Roberto Patino. Hammer will play Dwayne McLaren, a small town auto mechanic in Cut Bank, Montana, who will do anything to get out of his tiny town, which sets into motion “a series of events that will change his life, and the life of Cut Bank, forever.” Filming will begin in the fall and filmmakers will be selling the project at the Cannes Film Festival next month.

“The Social Network” breakout star Hammer is currently on location with director Gore Verbinski and star Johnny Depp as he plays the titular role in “The Lone Ranger”, and is also attached to revenge thriller “By Virtue Fall” opposite Eric Bana. Palmer recently appeared in Sundance hit “Wish You Were Here” opposite Joel Edgerton and has zombie romance “Warm Bodies” with Nicholas Hoult and Vietnam war drama “AWOL” with Liam Hemsworth awaiting release.
