New images from “Breaking Dawn Part II” including first look at Mackenzie Foy as miracle baby Renesmee

June 13, 2012 | Posted by Linda Ge in Images Leave a comment

Immortal, impossibly strong and cute as a button to boot. Edward and Bella sure do know how to procreate. The miracle half-human, half-vampire spawn of Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart’s finally married Cullen couple is all grown up and played by child actress Mackenzie Foy in “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part II”, the final installment of the vampire saga that has spawned 3 books, 4 movies, millions of screaming fans and billions of dollars in revenue.

Today EW has unveiled the cover of their new issue, which has our first look at Foy as little Nessie, flanked by her protective (and now fully vampirized) parents, as well as new stills that show her sharing a moment with Taylor Lautner’s Jacob, the guy who liked her mom but then imprinted on her when she was a baby and will act as a protective big brother figure… for now. Ew.

“The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part II”, directed back to back with Part I by Bill Condon, also brings in a bunch of old and new friends and foes, including Dakota Fanning as evil vampire Jane, Maggie Grace as the scorned Denali vampire Irina, Lee Pace as fan favorite Garrett and more. The Twilight Saga wraps up Edward and Bella’s story on November 16, 2012 and you can see the new images, courtesy of EW, below.

Jennifer Lawrence’s “Games” rival Alexander Ludwig joins the cast of “Grown Ups 2″

May 24, 2012 | Posted by Rebecca Lewis in Casting 3 Comments

“The Hunger Games” may have truly made a Hollywood star out of Jennifer Lawrence, but the other supporting actors are now looking to capatalise on the film’s success by paving their own way. Variety today reports that Alexander Ludwig, who starred opposite Lawrence as bad guy Cato, has joined the cast of “Grown Ups 2“.

The sequel to 2010 comedy,  “Grown Ups 2″ stars Adam Sandler, Kevin James, David Spade, Chris Rock and Salma Hayek, and Ludwig will star as Spade’s son. In recent months Taylor Lautner and “Project X” star Oliver Cooper have joined the cast as frat boys who challenge the original films stars.  The film has already started filming in Massachusetts, with Dennis Dugan in the director’s chair again.

Ludwig originally auditioned for the role of Peeta, Katniss’s rival, partner and love interest in the Games, but lost out to Josh Hutcherson.

This is already hilarious: Taylor Lautner joins “Grown Ups 2″

Taylor Lautner is not exactly having the action star movie career he thought he would be having at the moment. After failing to translate “Twilight” fame to box office bankability with the much-hyped, little-seen “Abduction”, it appears he’s now trying to take the career in a whole new direction. THR reports Lautner has signed on to “Grown Ups 2″, the sequel to the comedy that starred Adam Sandler, Kevin James and co as childhood friends who reunite as adults.

Chris Rock, David Spade, Maya Rudolph and Salma Hayek co-starred in the original and will also all be returning, so despite THR’s sources claiming Lautner has a “key, fun role”, with so many stars already in place it’s clear it’ll be a supporting role at best. Dennis Dugan, who directed the first movie, will also return to direct the sequel.

It won’t be the first time Lautner has joined an already established cast in an ensemble comedy sequel, having already appeared in “Cheaper by the Dozen 2″ with Steve Martin; and of course there was Gary Marshall’s “Valentine’s Day.” The final “Twilight” movie, “Breaking Dawn Part 2″, opens in November but Lautner hasn’t filmed anything outside the vampire saga since “Abduction.” He recently officially left the long-gestating “Stretch Armstrong”, while other long-gestating projects with him attached to star and produce – “Incarceron” at Fox 2000, an untitled film with Gus Van Sant – remain in limbo. So he obviously won’t become The Next Tom Cruise anytime soon, but could this be the beginning of the rise of Taylor Lautner, comedy star?

Taylor Lautner Joins Gus Van Sant for New Film

November 2, 2011 | Posted by Seana Cole in Casting Leave a comment

“Twilight” star Taylor Lautner is set to produce and star in a new film for director Gus Van Sant (Milk, Good Will Hunting), according to The Hollywood Reporter. The plot is based on a nonfiction article in The New Yorker magazine, though no further specifics were given.

Lautner, who’s most known for his role as Jacob Black in the “Twilight” films, will once again star as Black when “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1″ releases on the 18th. Lautner also recently stared in “Abduction” with Lily Collins, which opened at #4 and pulled in $71 million worldwide to date.

Aside from those, he’s still reportedly attached to “Stretch Armstrong”, based on the popular Hasbro action figure, as well as sci-fi actioner “Incarceron”, though no movement has been made on either in the months since their initial announcement.

‘Twilight’ star Kellan Lutz to star alongside Mickey Rourke once again in indie thriller ‘Java Heat’

As tween heartthrob Taylor Lautner has left the Twilight Saga ready to be groomed as the next big Hollywood action star – signing on to star in Fox 2000′s futuristic prison society action thriller Incarceron, being considered for the role of David opposite Dwayne Johnson’s Goliath in Director Scott Derrickson’s retelling of the Old Testament tale, and starring in, by all accounts the terrible action-thriller Abduction – fellow Twilight star Kellan Lutz, who has an equal amount of action-hero potential as Lautner, has been quietly forgotten about (probably due to box office duds such as 2010′s A Nightmare on Elm Street remake and the little-seen Love Wedding Marriage.)

Lutz is sure to be hoping for a turn around of luck, with Tarsem Singh’s upcoming Immortals due for release on November 11th, and A Warrior’s Heart (also starring Twilight alum Ashley Greene) due for release in December, and Variety is reporting that Lutz has now boarded Margate House Films’ Java Heat, an indie thriller that “revolves around a mysterious American (Lutz) who teams with a Muslim cop to track down a new breed of klepto-terrorists in Southeast Asia.”

Also starring will be Lutz’s Immortals co-star, Oscar nominated actor Mickey Rourke, who will play a jewel thief, and the mastermind behind the terrorist acts. Java Heat will be directed by Conor Allyn, from a script co-penned with father Rob Allyn, but there is no word yet on when production will begin.

Edward and Bella finally get married and then things quickly go to hell when their honeymoon becomes a PSA for safe sex. Bella’s got one in the oven, and thanks to the miracle baby taking after her vampire father, she’s proving to be too much for her meek little human mother to carry to term and then deliver. Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and the rest of the cast all return to the roles that made them international superstars, for the next to last time as they all work together to protect Bella from her demon spawn and from outside forces who, understandably, want to kill it (and her if necessary) before it hatches and wreaks havoc upon the world. Will they succeed? Well, we won’t be finding out any time soon. With the last book being split up into two movies (thanks “Harry Potter”!) it’ll be over a year before we get full closure on the saga of Edward and Bella.

“The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn: Part I” is released on November 18th, with “Part II” scheduled for exactly one year later.

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart get close on first “Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn” teaser posters

September 8, 2011 | Posted by Linda Ge in Images Leave a comment

Just two months to go before the beginning of the end for Edward and Bella’s vampire shenanigans in “The Twilight Saga” and today, the first set of teaser posters for the first part of that final installment, “Breaking Dawn”, have been released by Yahoo! Movies. Robert Pattinson as vegetarian vampire Edward Cullen and Kristen Stewart as his human love Bella Swan cuddle close and show off some new bling: wedding rings. Yes, spoiler alert, Edward and Bella finally get married and … you know how it goes. “First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes the miracle half-vampire half-human baby who daddy has to chew through mommy’s womb to deliver.” As you can see, we have very good reasons to look forward to this movie. Don’t let us down, Bill Condon.

On his own solo poster is Taylor Lautner as Jacob, now a lone wolf in more ways than one as Bella moves on to marry Edward and he simultaneously becomes estranged with and banished from his pack of werewolf buddies.

Yahoo also promises to premiere the theatrical trailer for the film next Tuesday, September 13th. See full versions of both new posters below.

Will “Twilight” werewolf Taylor Lautner be David to Dwayne Johnson’s “Goliath”?

August 31, 2011 | Posted by Linda Ge in Casting 7 Comments

Shirtless “Twilight” werewolf Taylor Lautner doesn’t exactly want to be known as a shrimpy little guy, but next to Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, how could he be anything but? So it makes sense then, with the wrestler-turned-actor and most-macho-of-them-all already in negotiations for the title role in “Goliath”, that wannabe macho action star Lautner might be willing to consider an offer from his “Twilight” producers Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey to take on the role of minute farmer David. After all, David beats Goliath in the end. Twitch Film reported the news this morning.

Director Scott Derrickson will helm the retelling of the Old Testament tale, which sees celebrated – and ginormous – warrior Goliath challenging Israelites to send their best champion to battle him one on one. While other men cower in fear, young and scrawny sheep shepherd David accepts the challenge and against all odds, defeats the giant and cuts off his head. David’s victory confirms his destiny as the future King of Israel.

As for Lautner, he has achieved international stardom thanks to his breakout role as Jacob in the “Twilight” series (“Breaking Dawn: Part 1″ is out in November, with “Part 2″ concluding the saga 12 months later), but his star power outside the series is thus far untested. He has John Singleton’s action flick “Abduction” out next month, along with some long-gestating in-development projects such as an adaptation of teen sci-fi novel “Incarceron” with Fox 2000 and “Stretch Armstrong”, based on the Hasbro toy, at Universal. But with no word on “Stretch” since it was first announced 18 months ago and Universal happily dumping many of its in development projects based on children’s toys in recent days, it’s unclear just what Lautner’s first post-”Twilight” project might be.

Watch: First trailer for John Singleton’s “Abduction” starring Taylor Lautner and Lily Collins

April 13, 2011 | Posted by Linda Ge in Videos 1 Comment

“Twilight”‘s shirtless werewolf Taylor Lautner tries a little too hard to be the teenage Jason Bourne and is ultimately unconvincing in the first trailer for John Singleton’s action thriller “Abduction”. Lautner is Nathan, a popular high school kid who finds his own childhood face on a missing persons website and discovers his parents are not who they say they are. His quest to track down the truth leads to government cover-ups, shadowy pursuits, explosions, car chases, hand to hand combat and more.

Caught awkwardly between tween-friendly caper and more adult and gritty fare, there’s nary a truly exciting action scene to be found and Lautner’s monotone and squinty non-emoting do little to make anything seem riveting. One wonders just how much of an audience this film will manage to find outside of Team Jacob. Also starring Lily Collins, Afred Molina and Sigourney Weaver, “Abduction” opens in theaters on September 23.
