Noomi Rapace reunites with “Dragon Tattoo” director on revenge thriller “Dead Man Down”

November 1, 2011 | Posted by Linda Ge in Casting Leave a comment

Noomi Rapace surely feels a lot of gratitude to Swedish director Niels Arden Oplev, who cast her as Lisbeth Salander in his adaptation of “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”, a role that has made an international superstar out of Rapace. So it’s not a surprise the two are teaming up again, perhaps hoping to capture some of the magic they made on “Dragon Tattoo.” THR reports Rapace and Colin Farrell have signed on to star together in Opleve’s revenge thriller “Dead Man Down.”

“Fringe”‘s J.H. Wyman is producing and also wrote the script, “a revenge tale featuring a mobster’s hitman (Farrell) who falls for a disfigured former beauty (Rapace), with the two of them going on a violent spree.” An early 2012 shoot is planned.

Rapace has leveraged her “Dragon Tattoo” fame to land tons of high profile Hollywood projects, including the female lead opposite Robert Downey Jr in sequel “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.” Ridley Scott also famously fought very hard to cast her as the lead of his sci-fi epic “Prometheus”, which is currently filming and which co-stars opposite Michael Fassbender and Charlize Theron.

First look at Noomi Rapace in “Sherlock Holmes II”

Today we have our very first look at Noomi Rapace in the role of Sim in “Sherlock Holmes II”, courtesy of Warner Bros and Hitfix. It’s the first time Rapace’s character’s name has been released, and movie title and plot details still remain under wraps. Rapace joins Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law reprising their roles as Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson.

Rapace is one of the hottest rising stars in Hollywood at the moment after her turn as Lisbeth Salander in the Swedish adaptation of “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” crossed borders and became a hit in the US too. She took meetings with Guy Ritchie, which resulted in the female lead in “Sherlock Holmes 2″, with Ridley Scott, who is said to favor her to star in his “Alien” prequel and with a plethora of other Hollywood execs who are dying to give her a job, but she will bypass all that to return to Sweden to star in a biopic about boxer Boss Hogberg. She will play cabaret singer Anita Lindblom, who was married to the prizefighter.

“Sherlock Holmes 2″ hits theaters December 6, 2011.
