Set Photos Reveal Joel Courtney and Liana Liberato Filming “Dear Eleanor” with Isabelle Fuhrman

May 24, 2013 | Posted by Linda Ge in Casting Leave a comment

dear-eleanorsm We learned just earlier today that “The Hunger Games” star Isabelle Fuhrman is in the midst of filming her next film, and now we have news of who her co-stars are, as well as the first photos from the Boulder, Co. set. Just Jared has the first photos of Fuhrman as well as “Super 8″ star Joel Courtney and Liana Liberato of the upcoming “Stuck in Love” filming a piggyback scene for 1960s’ set road trip drama “Dear Eleanor.”

“Entourage” star Kevin Connolly is directing the coming of age tale about two best friends (Liberato and Fuhrman) who go on a road trip across the country in search of Eleanor Roosevelt. The film also stars Jessica Alba, Ione Skye and Josh Lucas, who plays real life Alcatraz escapee Frank Morris. No word on who, if anyone, will play Roosevelt, who would have been near her deathbed at age 78 based on the timeline of the film.

The first photos of Fuhrman, Courtney and Liberato are below, and Just Jared has a few more. This is an indie, so no distribution news just yet.

First Look: Sam Claflin and Lily Collins Say Goodbye on the Set of “Love, Rosie”

May 14, 2013 | Posted by Linda Ge in Images Leave a comment

loverosiesm “The Hunger Games” star Sam Claflin and “The Mortal Instruments” star Lily Collins film what appears to be a goodbye scene in our first look at photos from the set of their new romantic drama “Love, Rosie.” Just Jared has the first photos of the two franchise stars in Toronto working on the Christian Ditter film, based on the novel “Where Rainbows End” by Cecelia Ahern.

The two play best friends and would-be couple on the verge of heading off to college together. When she gets pregnant unexpectedly, she urges him to go without her, and the film chronicles the next 12 years of their lives. Standing by a cab and with one set of luggage at their feet, it looks like these photos may show that pivotal moment when Claflin’s Alex leaves for college and leaves Collins’ titular Rosie behind.

“Love, Rosie” also stars British actors Tamsin Edgerton and Christian Cooke. See the first photos of Collins and Claflin below.

First Look at Nicholas Hoult on the Set of “X-Men: Days of Future Past”

May 13, 2013 | Posted by Linda Ge in Images Leave a comment

xmennicksm Nicholas Hoult is totally 70s in our first look at Hank McCoy aka the mutant known as Beast on the set of sequel “X-Men: Days of Future Past.” Director Bryan Singer has been tweeting news and sneak peeks at the filming of the comic book adaptation now filming in Montreal and has now given us our first look at Hoult alongside Hugh Jackman as Wolverine in a familiar hallway.

There does seem to be some anachronism happening in this scene with Hoult and Jackman decked out in their best disco-inspired garbs while walking next to some gleaming futuristic walls that look awfully familiar to fans of Singer’s original “X-Men” films, but of course, the time-travel plot of the film easily explains characters appearing in places and decade they don’t necessarily belong. Ellen Page’s Kitty Pryde aka Shadowcat is expected to be central to the story if Singer sticks to the comics, and returning mutants include Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Patrick Stewart and James McAvoy as Professor X, Michael Fassbender and Ian McKellan as Magneto, Halle Berry as Storm, Anna Paquin as Rogue and Shawn Ashmore as Iceman.

“X-Men: Days of Future Past” will be released on July 17, 2014. See the first photo of Hoult as Beast (minus the fuzzy blue) below.

Elle Fanning in Indie Drama “Low Down”; First Set Photos Revealed

May 10, 2013 | Posted by Linda Ge in Casting, Images Leave a comment

lowdownsm Here’s one that appears to have slipped through the cracks. THR reported today that Elle Fanning has been cast opposite John Hawkes in indie drama “Low Down”, along with supporting actors including Taryn Manning, Peter Dinklage, Glenn Close and musican Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, but it appears filming is already underway, as we already have the first set photos of Fanning.

Jeff Preiss is directing the true life biopic in Los Angeles which follows Hawkes as Joe Albany, a gifted jazz pianist who played with iconic musicians like Charlie Parker and Miles Davis but who struggled with heroin addiction. The story of his rocky life will be told through the eyes of his daughter (Fanning). Manning plays a struggling actress and fellow junkie, and there’s no word yet on who the other actors play, though Dinklage appears in some of the photos with Fanning obtained by Celebrity Gossip so he appears to be a neighbor of the father-daughter duo.

See a couple of photos of Fanning below, dressed in what appears to be 1970s’ garb, filming a scene on a fire escape and head over to Celebrity Gossip for more, including shots of Dinkage’s scene.

First Look at Jason Clarke in “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes”

May 10, 2013 | Posted by Linda Ge in Images Leave a comment

apes-jasonsm Jason Clarke faces off against some would-be apes in our first look at the filming of a scene from “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.” Director Matt Reeves tweeted the photo showing Clarke and Andy Serkis in full mo-cap garb atop a horse. Oh yeah, apparently the apes in this one have learned how to ride horses. We’re doomed.

In the background we also have glimpses of Clarke’s character’s human cohorts, namely Keri Russell and Kodi Smit-McPhee, all carrying large backpacks and what appear to be large metal tubes and containers (weapons of some kind?). Reeves tweeted out the first photo with the message “A New Dawn…”, and judging by what a surprising great movie “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” turned out to be and the amazing cast he’s assembled for this sequel, we are psyched.

See the first photo below. Filming is now underway in New Orleans and “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” will be released on Ma 23, 2014.

First Look: Megan Fox Reporting for Duty as April in “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”

May 8, 2013 | Posted by Linda Ge in Images Leave a comment

meganturtlessm It’s the reunion no one saw coming, but it’s really happening. Megan Fox and Michael Bay made nice and he’s cast her as April in Jonathan Liebesman’s reboot of “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” (Bay is producing), and today we have our first look at Fox filming a scene, thanks to Britain’s Daily Mail.

April O’Neil is the plucky television reporter and human companion to the four walking, talking, crime-fighting turtles who originated as comic book characters but quickly became cartoons, toys and a permanent part of our pop culture landscape. They’ve been on the big screen four times previously, and Bay is planning to release this newest incarnation on May 16, 2014, with Jeremy Howard, Noel Fisher, Alan Ritchson and Pete Ploszek motion-captured for the live-action/CGI reboot. It also looks like April is not exactly covering the crime beat this time around as she has in past incarnations, but rather engaging in an exercise segment involving a trampoline.

Well, this is definitely a Michael Bay movie. Anyway, see the first photos of Fox below.

First Look at Ellen Page Reprising Shadowcat in “X-Men: Days of Future Past”

May 3, 2013 | Posted by Linda Ge in Images Leave a comment

shadowcatsm Bryan Singer has had a tight handle on the marketing for his “X-Men: Days of Future Past”, mostly by tweeting all casting news and first look photos himself rather than distributing them through a publicity department, and he’s still at it several weeks into filming. Today he gives us our first look at Ellen Page back on set as Kitty Pride, the mutant known as Shadowcat.

Mutants past and errr, even further past are reuniting for Singer’s return to the director’s chair since 2003′s “X2.” “X-Men: First Class” alums James McAvoy (Professor X), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique) and Nicholas Hoult (Beast), who are still living in the 1970s or so, will meet X-Men of the slightly more recent past like Page’s Shadowcat, Anna Paquin’s Rogue, Shawn Ashmore’s Iceman (glimpsed briefly in today’s photo as well), Halle Berry’s Storm and even future versions of themselves in Patrick Stewart’s Professor X and Ian McKellen’s Magneto. But it all comes down to Shadowcat, who took the central time-traveling role in the comics on which this film is based, though we don’t know how it’s been altered for the big screen.

“X-Men: Days of Future Past” is filming now for a July 17, 2014 release date. See the first photo of Page in a variation on her classic black leather X-Men uniform circa the mid-2000s below. Are the slight differences due to the dystopic alternate future she’s trying to prevent? Curiouser and curiouser.

First Look: Jennifer Lawrence Goes Totally 70s in First Photos From the Set of David O. Russell’s Latest

March 25, 2013 | Posted by Linda Ge in Images 1 Comment

abscam001 She just won her first Oscar, but Jennifer Lawrence is not slowing down one bit. Since her big night just a month ago, Lawrence has already completed reshoots on “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” and is already on to her second movie set. This past week photographers spotted the blonde-again star back at work with “Silver Linings Playbook” director David O. Russell on his newest, donning a totally 70s updo as she prepares to film scenes as the wife of Christian Bale.

The untitled film, originally called “American Bullshit”, will follow the real life political drama Abscam, which was set up by the FBI in the 1970s and 80s. An FBI employee posed as a fictional Middle Eastern sheik named Kraim Abdul Rahman, who was videotaped taking meetings with government officials in which they agreed to take money for helping him gain asylum in the US, among other illegal activities. The investigation culminated in the conviction of a United States Senator and five members of the House of Representatives. Lawrence’s “Silver Linings” co-star Bradley Cooper is among the all-star cast, marking this their third collaboration in as many years, as well as Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner.

The first photos of Lawrence doing her best Trophy Wife impression can be found below, thanks to Celebrity Gossip and Zimbio. Be sure to head over for even more pics.

First Look: Aaron Johnson Soldiers Up for “Godzilla” in First Set Photos

March 23, 2013 | Posted by Linda Ge in Images Leave a comment

godzilla-aaronsm Well, now we know. Aaron Johnson will be playing a soldier in Gareth Edwards‘ reboot of Japanese monster movie “Godzilla”, as evidenced by the first set photos from the film obtained by Just Jared.

Bryan Cranston, Ken Watanabe, Elizabeth Olsen and Juliette Binoche join Johnson in the film about humans battling a giant dinosaur-esque monster who stomps through a metropolis, but only Johnson, in full military gear, was glimpsed on the first few days of filming. He’s pictured standing with some fellow soldiers next to what appears to be a huge missile on some train tracks, so Godzilla may be in for some trouble.

This production came together quickly and rather last minute, with the cast seemingly still negotiating when they all arrived in Vancouver to begin filming last week, but for good reason, as the big budget blockbuster is already set for a May 16, 2014 release. See the first photos of Johnson prepping to battle “Godzilla” below, and check out JJ for even more.

First Look: Jonah Hill And A Very Pregnant Felicity Jones On The Set Of “True Story”

March 20, 2013 | Posted by Linda Ge in Images Leave a comment

truestorysm Filming is now underway on appropriately titled true life crime drama “True Story” in New York and Zimbio have the first images of stars Jonah Hill and Felicity Jones, sporting one giant fake pregnant belly, on set filming a scene.

Rupert Goold is directing the adaptation of former New York Times writer Michael Finkel’s nonfiction book of the same name. Hill will play Finkel, whose memoir revolved around his entanglements with accused murderer Christian Longo (to be played by James Franco). In 2002 Longo was arrested in Mexico for murdering his entire family, but he was living under an assumed name: Michael Finkel. On the very next day, the real Finkel was fired from his writing job after being accused of twisting facts in an earlier story on the African slave trade. After Longo’s arrest, the only reporter he will speak to is Finkel himself. The two begin a months-long face-off via correspondence, phone calls and face to face meetings as Longo insists he can prove his innocence and Finkel seeks to uncover the truth. Jones will play Finkel’s ” long suffering girlfriend, who tries to stand by her guy even after his screw ups cost them everything.”

The two were filmed getting into or out of a taxi with bags in tow, so a logical guess for the scene may be the aftermath of Finkel’s initial firing, after which he took a sabbatical to a country cabin. Of course, there was no pregnant girlfriend in the real story, so big changes are probably afoot in this film adaptation. Filming just began and there is no release date yet. See the first photos of Hill and Jones below and hit up Zimbio for a lot more pics.
