New look at Eddie Redmayne and Emma Watson in “My Week with Marilyn”

September 22, 2011 | Posted by Linda Ge in Images Leave a comment

“My Week with Marilyn” is one of our most anticipated fall movies of 2011, and as we’ve said all along, while most eyes are on how two-time Oscar nominee Michelle Williams will embody iconic screen goddess Marilyn Monroe, our attention is on a couple of other young stars who will appear in the film with her. Eddie Redmayne is Colin Clark, whose “week with Marilyn” as an assistant director on the set of “The Prince and the Showgirl” is the basis of the film. Emma Watson, fresh off eight “Harry Potter” movies, plays Lucy, a young wardrobe assistant slash love interest to Clark. Simon Curtis directed the film which also stars Kenneth Branagh as Sir Laurence Olivier, Julia Ormond as Vivien Leigh and Dominic Cooper as famed Marilyn photographer Milton H. Greene.

“My Week with Marilyn” was financed from the beginning by Harvey Weinstein, so we can expect a heavy Oscar push, particularly for Williams, precluding a disastrous reception when it premieres at the New York Film Festival next month. General audiences will get to see it on November 4th. Perhaps a bit surprisingly, there is no trailer for the film yet. Fan site Eddie Redmayne Online snagged the image below, our first look at Redmayne and Watson together in what looks like a promotional photoshoot for the film.

First official look at Bella Heathcote, Chloe Moretz and the whole cast of “Dark Shadows”

September 22, 2011 | Posted by Linda Ge in Images 1 Comment

We’ve already seen one set of unofficial photos from the set of Tim Burton’s highly anticipated vampire saga “Dark Shadows” which was, well, a bit out there. So, as if to appease the outcry of fans and bloggers, the first official photo from the film has been released via Entertainment Weekly and we can all breathe a sigh of relief, the whole cast looks not nearly as crazy as those first set photos would have us believe. Johnny Depp’s skintone in particular looks much more manageable.

The whole cast appears strikingly doll-like, standing in a giant dollhouse, especially a couple of our favorite up and comers, Aussie breakout Bella Heathcote as governess Victoria Winters and Chloe Moretz, who looks more grownup than in any of her previous roles, as the rebellious teenage daughter Carolyn Stoddard. Director Burton felt inspired to snap this shot of his entire cast by the original soap opera on which his film is based. “I remember seeing a group photograph of the cast of the original series,” he tells EW. “For me it captured the weird Dark Shadows vibe in a single image. I had a brief window of opportunity to have our cast present at the same time, the day before principle photography began. We decided to stage a similar picture instead of rehearsing, to see if we captured the Dark Shadows feeling.”

Check out the larger version of the pic below and head to EW for detailed descriptions of each actor and character represented. So has Tim Burton captured the Dark Shadows feeling? Let us know what you think!

First Look: Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson as Gale and Peeta in “The Hunger Games”

July 27, 2011 | Posted by Linda Ge in Images Leave a comment

Like they did for Jennifer Lawrence’s Katniss, Entertainment Weekly gets the distinct privilege of unveiling in costume and in character Liam Hemsworth as Gale and Josh Hutcherson as Peeta in “The Hunger Games”. Hey, that fake forest background looks pretty familiar.

Unlike Lawrence’s reveal though, the guys that will flank our heroine in Gary Ross’s adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ best-selling teen trilogy are less impressive to this writer. Hutcherson is certainly stocky the way his character is described, but that seems to be where the similarities end and the slightly lighter blond hair doesn’t do much to sway me towards agreeing with this casting choice. Hemsworth, on the other hand, should make a fine Gale, but then again, his role was never as crucial as Peeta’s. After all, Hemsworth is apparently already moving on to his next movie.

Though it seems this photoshoot was taken at the same location as Lawrence’s earlier cover, there’s no word yet if any other actors, including Woody Harrelson as Haymitch, Elizabeth Banks as Effie, Lenny Kravitz as Cinna, Stanley Tucci as Caesar Flickerman, were involved.

“The Hunger Games” is currently filming in North Carolina and will be released on March 23, 2012. See the full EW cover image below and pick up a copy this Friday for more inside!
