Tom Hiddleston to join Kermit and Miss Piggy across Europe in “The Muppets .. Again!”

tom-hiddleston2011′s “The Muppets” was a box office hit with Jason Segel and Amy Adams so it was no surprise to find out we’d get a sequel. “The Muppets … Again!” was co-scripted by James Bobin and Nicholas Stoller, and will have Bobin in the director’s chair, and now Bleeding Cool think they may have cracked one of the first major pieces of casting news, with Brit actor Tom Hiddleston playing a character call The Great Escapo.

Kermit the Frog told EW earlier this year that the “idea of this film is that our gang is on this global tour, and we’re selling out these grand theaters all over Europe — in Berlin, Madrid, London —but we sort of get into a little bit of trouble when we run across my Doppelgänger. He’s the world’s number one criminal, Constantine, and he happens to look an awful lot like me. I won’t tell you any more than that, but let’s just say mayhem ensues.” Mayhem ensues? That sounds like the typical Muppets we’ve come to know and love!

Segel has already confirmed he won’t be back in the new film and rumoured guest stars so far include Christoph Waltz, Ricky Gervais and Tina Fey. As Bleeding Cool suggest, the plot of “The Muppets … Again!” allows for some potentially great guest stars as the Muppets go on the road visiting European theaters, never stopping at one place for too long.

Hiddleston broke out in 2011′s “Thor” as Thor’s evil brother Loki. He also starred in the Oscar-nominated pics “Midnight in Paris” and “War Horse“, and reprised the role of Loki last year in “Avengers Assemble“. He will next be seen in Jim Jarmusch’s vampire saga “Only Lovers Left Alive” which is rumoured to premiere at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.

Jonah Hill says “Aloha” to Shawn Levy and Ben Stiller for Hawaii-set comedy

Comedy heavyweights Shawn Levy, Nicholas Stoller, Ben Stiller and Jonah Hill are joining forces on a new comedy for Fox, according to THR. Still in the development stage, Still and Hill are attached to star, Stoller in negotiations to write the screenplay and Levy attached to direct. Levy, Stiller and Hill will also act as producers.

Plot details are being kept under wraps, but it’s being described as an island-set comedy, with “Aloha” heavily suggesting that island is probably Hawaii. Reunions abound on the film, as Stoller and Hill have worked on a Hawaiian-set comedy before in “Forgetting Sarah Marshall”, while Levy directed Stiller in “Night at the Museum” and Hill and Stiller co-star in the upcoming “The Watch.”

Newly minted Oscar nominee Hill has unexpectedly become as serious talent to watch as he begins mixing in more prestige projects with his usual comedic fare. After landing a nom for Best Supporting Actor for playing it serious opposite Brad Pitt in Bennett Miller’s “Moneyball”, Hill quickly signed on to work for heavyweight directors like Martin Scorsese on “The Wolf of Wall Street” and Quentin Tarantino on “Django Unchained.” He’s also attached to courtroom drama “True Story” opposite James Franco, while still maintaining future comedic projects, including the sequel to “21 Jump Street” with Channing Tatum.

Chris Pratt and Rhys Ifans join “Five Year Engagement”

Jason Segal and Emily Blunt comedy “Five Year Engagement” is firming up its supporting cast fast, with “Community” star Alison Brie signing on just yesterday to play Blunt’s younger sister. Today two more join the trio, as Variety reports “Parks and Recreation” star Chris Pratt and “The Amazing Spider-Man” villain Rhys Ifans have jumped on board in unspecified roles as well.

Production is expected to be underway by the end of March for the film that charts the highs and lows of a couple’s (Segal and Blunt) long-gestating engagement. Judd Apatow, Rodney Rothman and director Nicholas Stoller are producing the project. Stoller also co-wrote with Segel, having previously collaborated on “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” and “Get Him to the Greek.”

Pratt, who first captured our attention on the canceled-way-too-early “Everwood”, has been sticking to TV with a starring role on NBC’s “Parks and Recreation”, but has started to venture more into features, mostly co-starring with wife Anna Faris in her various romantic comedy capers. He recently wrapped “Ten Year” opposite Channing Tatum and will be seen opposite Faris once again in “What’s Your Number?”. Ifans is currently in the midst of playing The Lizard opposite Andrew Garfield as “The Amazing Spider-Man” and will next be seen in Roland Emmerich’s “Anonymous”, a Shakespearean-set political thriller.
