Taking the found footage genre away from the supernatural and into law enforcement, ”End of Watch” stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Michael Peña and Anna Kendrick and it was announced today the film would premiere at Toronto International Film Festival.

Directed by David Ayers, the films stars Gyllenhaal and Peña as partner police officers who patrol some of the meanest streets in LA. When they inadvertently stumble upon something more dangerous than expected, they and their families – with Anna Kendrick and Natalie Martinez playing wives to Gyllenhaal and Pena, respectively – are put in danger.

The first trailer was released back in early May and the film has a release date of September 28th, just as TIFF ends.

If you have a strong stomach, the first trailer for David Ayer’s cop drama “End of Watch” is now available for your viewing pleasure. For those of us easily nauseated by that shaky camera found footage style of filmmaking, it’s not quite as much fun.

Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Pena star in Ayers’ newest as partner police officers who patrol some of the meanest streets in LA. When they inadvertently stumble upon something more dangerous than expected, they and their families – with Anna Kendrick and Natalie Martinez playing wives to Gyllenhaal and Pena, respectively – are put in danger.

Open Road will release “End of Watch” on September 28th. Watch the first trailer below (but keep some Dramamine on hand just in case).

Relatively unknown actresses Alona Tal and Natalie Martinez have landed the female leads in Allen Hughes directed Mark Wahlberg thriller “Broken City”, reports Variety. Russell Crowe and Catherine Zeta Jones are also part of the impressive and growing cast.

Walhberg stars as a cop turned private investigator who becomes embroiled in a murder investigation amid a corrupt mayoral election. Crowe plays a candidate for mayor, Tal will play Wahlberg’s assistant and Martinez his girlfriend. “Broken City” already has a release date of January 18, 2013.

Tal is primarily a TV actress who may be most known for her regular role on CW series “Supernatural.” Martinez made her acting debut on primetime soap “Fashion House” but has since been steadily landing movie roles, including the female lead opposite Jason Statham in “Death Race.” She can next be seen opposite Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Pena in cop drama “End of Watch.”

Anna Kendrick to be Mrs. Jake Gyllenhaal in David Ayer’s “End of Watch”

Anna Kendrick is about to play a role she’s never played before in her young career: wife. In David Ayer’s gritty cop drama “End of Watch”, Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Pena play a pair of partner police officers, and now Variety reports Kendrick – who generally steers clear of traditional love interest roles – is in talks to play Gyllenhaal’s wife, while Natalie Martinez is in talks for the role of Pena’s wife.

Story follows “the longtime partnership of two LAPD officers as they confront marriage, love, fatherhood and the harsh realities of the Los Angeles streets”. Filming already began weeks ago and has been ongoing since April.

Ayer directed Kendrick in her music video debut last year, for LCD Soundsystem’s song “Pow Pow”. The “Twilight” series star earned an Oscar nomination in 2009 for her role opposite George Clooney in “Up in the Air” and has Jonathan Levine’s cancer dramedy “50/50″ opposite Joseph Gordon Levitt and Seth Rogen coming out this September. After over a year of signing on to no new projects, Kendrick is getting back into the swing of things, recently signing on for three – four, including “End of Watch” – new movies: Robin Wright’s directorial debut “The Archivst”, Lionsgate’s micro-budget horror comedy “Rapture-Palooza” and the animated “ParaNorman”.
