Ex-’Gossip Girl’ Jessica Szohr has been slowly but surely adding to her film resume over the last few months, joining the cast of teen comedy Owned and indie flick Light Years.
Back in September, we reported that she was to star in the sex comedy/horror film “Love Bite”, with Ed Speelers and Luke Pasqualino, and the American Film Market (via Collider) has delivered us our first image from the film.
Written by Ronan Blaney and Cris Cole, and directed by Andy de Emmony, the story “centers on a small town that falls victim to a werewolf who feeds on teen virgins”. A small group of friends subsequently realize that losing their virginity might provide the best route to survival.
Filming in Scotland only started back in early October, and there is no word on release dates yet.

New Zealand’s rising star Rose McIver has landed a role in a new indie film “Light Years”, reports Variety. Furthermore, “Gossip Girl” star Jessica Szohr appears to have been cast in the film as well.
The actress, last seen in Hollywood in 2009′s tear-jerker “The Lovely Bones” as Saorise Ronan’s older sister Lindsay Salmon, will star alongside Chris Lowell, who plays “a listless guy who gets dumped by his girlfriend — the catalyst to getting his life back in order.” The film is based on a short film by Maggie Kiley, who will direct the feature length version.
“Shameless” star Emmy Rossum had originally been cast alongside Lowell, but appears to be out of the project now.
After her role in “The Lovely Bones”, McIver went back to her native New Zealand to star in several TV shows, including “Power Rangers R.P.M” and “Super City.” Szohr had been a regular on CW series “Gossip Girl” and since being ousted from the show, has been racking up film roles, mostly on the indie scene.

Emmy Rossum has found success on television – in Showtime’s recently renewed “Shameless” – after an attempt at a big screen career seemed to fizzle out, but she is now making a foray back into films, joining “Light Years”, already starring Peter Gallagher. Fellow TV alum and “Private Practice” star Chris Lowell has also signed on to the indie drama.
“Light Years”, based on the 2009 short film “Some Boys Don’t Leave” starring Jesse Eisenberg, is a coming of age tale surrounding a young couple who break up but one can’t seem to let go. He decides to remain living in their shared apartment and she decides to move on with her life right in front of him. Maggie Kiley, who also created the short, will direct the feature she co-wrote Matthew Mullen.
Lowell, last briefly seen as George Clooney’s assistant in “Up in the Air”, will romance Emma Stone in her first dramatic turn in this August’s “The Help”. Rossum, once poised for stardom after being chosen to play Christine in the big screen adaptation of “The Phantom of the Opera” musical, has not been seen on the big screen since 2009′s indie “Dare” and “Dragonball: Evolution”.
