Anthony Mackie
Anthony Mackie is in negations to join the ever-growing cast of John Hillcoat‘s police drama “Triple Nine,” according to a report by Variety. If the 35-year-old actor signs on, he would star alongside a cast that already includes Chiwetel Ejiofor, Casey Affleck, Kate Winslet, Aaron Paul, Gal Gadot, and Teresa Palmer. “Triple Nine” follows a group of corrupt police officers (led by Ejiofor) as they plan to murder an LAPD cop (played by Affleck) in order to divert attention from a heist they’re being blackmailed into by the Russian mob.Read More

John Hillcoat‘s “Lawless” was one of our favorite Cannes films, a vivid and violent film, but also a fun, genuine pleasure to watch. Tom Hardy, Jason Clarke and LaBeouf star as the Bondurant boys, three brothers raising hell in Prohibition era Virgina. Based on a true story and adapted from Matt Bondurant’s ‘The Wettest County in the World”, when the boys get into the business of bootlegging, they run into some nefarious gangster foes including Guy Pearce and an especially sinister Gary Oldman. And they’ve got girl problems too, comingRead More
John Hillcoat’s “Lawless”, an adaptation of Matt Bondurant’s ‘The Wettest County in the World’ is a vivid but violent film that tells the tale of three Bondurant brothers in Franklin, Virginia during the prohibiton era of the 1930s. Star Shia LaBeouf called it “messy, dirty, realistic … that’s the way Hillcoat does his violence”, and this will certainly be one of the bloodiest films you’ll see all year. Based on a true story, the film follows Howard Bondurant (Jason Clarke), who returned from the Great War affected by what heRead More
John Hillcoat clearly loved working with his cast on current Cannes title “Lawless”, as The Playlist reports the director has already set “Lawless” star Shia LaBeouf to star in his next feature, the cop drama “Triple Nine.” And it’s not for lack of wanting that LaBeouf is the only actor to return to work for Hillcoat, as he tells The Playlist: “Tom [Hardy]… Guy [Pearce]… I’ve had the great fortune of working with, they’re all collaborative actors that it would be great to keep working together like [screenwriter] Nick [Cave]Read More

The official Cannes Film Festival lineup has finally been unveiled and looks like we can expect a more than usual number of up and coming young actors to head to the French Riviera next month. Mia Wasikowska’s 2011 dance card just got even more full. Previously we reported that she was trying to decide between John Hillcoat‘s Prohibition era drama “The Wettest County in the World” and “Stoker”, a drama from “Prison Break” star turned screenwriter Wentworth Miller and that she was hoping to do both if schedule allowed. She then proceeded to choose “Stoker” first, leaving her involvement in “The Wettest County” in doubt, but today THR reports that she found room for both projects after all, as she is now officially confirmed forRead More

Mia Wasikowska now in negotiations for “Stoker”

Looks like Mia Wasikowska has made her choice. Deadline reports that the Australian “Alice in Wonderland” actress has entered negotiations to star in Fox Searchlight’s “Stoker”, from a script by “Prison Break” star Wentworth Miller. This leaves Wasikowska’s involvement in John Hillcoat’s “The Wettest County in the World” in question, as previous reports indicated she was trying to choose between the two projects and hoping to work out a schedule that allows her to do both. For now, it appears “Stoker” is her priority. Replacing Carey Mulligan in the role,Read More
