Justin Long, Jess Weixler, Tyler Labine and Addison Timlin lead the cast of indie dramedy“Lumpy”, Deadline reports. Supporting cast also includes Michael Landis, Evan Jones and Shelley Long.
Ted Koland wrote the script and will make his feature directorial debut on the project, about a bride and groom (Weixler and Long), whose life-of-the-party best friend/best man Lumpy (Labine) dies at their wedding reception. When they cancel their honeymoon to return home for funeral preparations, they slowly discover Lumpy wasn’t who they thought he was. The film is currently prepping to begin shooting in Minnesota.
Long, a staple supporting character in the frat pack Will Ferrell-Vince Vaughn comedies, was last seen in rom-com “Going the Distance” opposite Drew Barrymore and recently wrapped ensemble “Ten Year”. Indie actress Weixler recently wrapped dramedy “Free Samples” opposite Jesse Eisenberg. Labine has a role in the upcoming “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” while Timlin broke out on the current season of “Californication” and landed the coveted female lead in “Odd Thomas” opposite Anton Yelchin.

Hot off “The Social Network”, Jesse Eisenberg has signed on to his next project, a supporting love interest role in the indie dramedy “Free Samples”, The Wrap reports. Little known actress Jess Weixler plays a law-school dropout who doles out free samples of ice cream from a friend’s food truck while trying to figure out what to do with her life. Typical quarter-life crisis Generation Y fare. Eisenberg will pursue her romantically, but she can’t remember much about him after a one night stand. Jason Ritter, who previously co-starred with Eisenberg in “The Education of Charlie Banks,” Tippy Hedren, Hallie Pfeiffer, Keir O’Donnell, Jocelyn Donahue and Matt Walsh all co-star.
Production is already underway in Los Angeles under the direction of Jay Gammill. Eisenberg recently wrapped filming on Ruben Fleischer’s “30 Minutes or Less” and will presumably be quite busy in the coming months making the rounds as he gears up to land a likely Oscar nomination for his portrayal of Mark Zuckerberg in “The Social Network”.
