Alicia Vikander has been set to play the lead role in James Ponsoldt’s “The Circle,” based on the Dave Eggers 2013 best-selling novel of the same name, according to THR. Tom Hanks also stars in the technological thriller set at a fictional company loosely based on Google. Vikander will play Mae, a recent graduate who thinks she’s landed her dream job when she’s hired by The Circle, the tech company owned by Hanks’ character. First Look at Alicia Vikander in ‘Ex Machina’

The first image of Alicia Vikander in “Ex Machina” has been released, and it’s definitely a strange one which reveals a lot about the film’s sci-fi roots. The film follows Caleb (Domhnall Gleeson), a young computer coder, who is invited to the home of the CEO of the world’s largest internet company (Oscar Iassc). Unbeknownst to Caleb, Isaac’s character has brought him in to test out the world’s first completely artificial intelligent machine. Vikander plays the robot. The new image from the film shows off her female robot’s essentially completelyRead More

Now, the first still image from the film has been released, along with word that Universal has picked up the indie sci-fi drama for distribution. Great news all around! Described as “an intense psychological thriller, played out in a love triangle between two men and a beautiful robot girl. It exploresRead More

Oscar Isaac is joining former Julliard classmate Jessica Chastain in J. C. Chandor’s next film, “A Most Violent Year,” he told a reporter last month, and today THR reports he is taking over the role vacated by Javier Bardem. Whereas we had no info on the plot of the film when Chastain signed on to star opposite Bardem over the summer, now Chandor tells THR that Isaac, in the lead role, will play a Hispanic man who moves to America in the 1980s and becomes extremely successful in business. TheRead More

Looks like things are suddenly moving right along for “Brooklyn,” the long-gestating adaptation of Colm Toibin’s novel that Nick Hornby adapted and which will now star Saoirse Ronan, who replaced Rooney Mara. Today Deadline reports “Anna Karenina” breakout star Domhnall Gleeson has joined the cast as well, along with Jim Broadbent. Ronan will star as Ellis Lacey, a 1950s Irish girl who reluctantly leaves her small village to take a job offer in New York City. There, she begins to adjust and enjoy her new freedom, falling in love alongRead More
Up and coming actors Domhnall Gleeson and Finn Wittrock have joined Jack O’Connell in Angelina Jolie’s adaptation of “Unbroken”, based on the incredible true story of Louis Zamperini, according to The Wrap. O’ConnellRead More
Alicia Vikander’s growing profile has helped fast track a long-gestating adaptation of 17th Century romance “Tulip Fever”, according to The Daily Mail. The adaptation of Deborah Moggach’s novel had almost been made back in 2003, when a new rising star named Keira Knightley nabbed the lead role of Sophia opposite Jude Law as her romantic partner. Ten years later, it’s Vikander – who seems to be in a similar on-the-verge position to a 2003-era Knightley – who will play the young wife of an aristocrat. When her wealthy husband hiresRead More
