Lucas Till joins Liam Hemsworth in corporate espionage thriller “Paranoia”

Lucas Till is set to join fellow rising star Liam Hemsworth in thriller “Paranoia”, according to Variety. The two almost “Hunger Games” co-stars may be joined by a couple of acting heavyweights as producers are also in advanced negotiations with Gary Oldman and Harrison Ford to play supporting roles in the film.

Robert Luketic will direct the film based on the Joseph Finder novel. Hemsworth plays Adam Cassidy, a low level employee of a high-tech firm who finds himself in trouble and agreeing to become a spy at a rival company. When he discovers he has a knack for the business, he skyrockets to success and achieving, at alarming speed, a luxurious life he never could have dreamed of. When he tries to break free of the people for whom he’s spying, he finds himself in over his head. Till will play a friend and co-worker. Filming will take place this summer before Hemsowrth reports back for duty on “Hunger Games” sequel “Catching Fire.”

Till, star of “X-Men: First Class”, almost became a part of “The Hunger Games” too after being shortlisted for the role of Peeta Mellark. The role went to Josh Hutcherson, and Till went on to shoot indie thriller “Crush” and Chan-Wook Park’s English feature debut “Stoker” opposite Mia Wasikowska. Till is also expected to reprise his role as Havok in the “X-Men: First Class” sequel, expected to begin shooting in early 2013.

Looks like the major roles in the new “Swimfan” remake* are all set. Lucas Till’s now got himself a girl-next-door potential girlfriend and a crazy hot but crazy-eyed admirer, just as Jesse Bradford did before him. Variety reports TV regulars Sarah Bolger, Crystal Reed and Reid Ewing have joined Till in new indie thriller “Crush.”

Till plays an All-American high school soccer star who starts attracting some unwanted and increasingly dangerous attention from a mysterious admirer. Bolger will play his friend who wants to take their relationship to the next level, Reed an “emotionally intense” classmate who’s jealous of their friendship, and Ewing an outsider with a crush on Reed’s charcter who begins to suspect she may be up to no good. Malik Bader directs from a script by Sonny Mallhi with filming slated to begin later this month in Los Angeles.

Bolger, perhaps best known for her role as Mary Tudor on Showtime’s hit series “The Tudors”, recently wrapped “As Cool as I Am” opposite James Marsden, Claire Danes and fellow up-and-comer Thomas Mann. Reed is a regular on MTV’s “Teen Wolf” and was last seen on the big screen in “Crazy Stupid Love.” Ewing plays Dylan on “Modern Family” and was recently seen in “Fright Night” with Anton Yelchin and Imogen Poots.

* not officially a remake of “Swimfan”, but… come on.

Erika Christensen, is that you? Nine years after Jesse Bradford was terrorized by Christensen’s “Swimfan”, another All-American high school jock is about to get the hell stalked out of him. The Wrap reports Lucas Till will play the unlucky guy this time around in Intrepid Films’ “Crush”, which sees him as a high school soccer star who begins attracting the attention of a mysterious admirer, and things quickly go south from there when the crush turns deadly.

Malik Bader directs from a script by Sonny Mallhi. Filming is slated to begin later this month in Los Angeles.

Till’s star been on the rise since he graduated from Disney after playing Miley Cyrus’ love interest in “Hannah Montana: The Movie” in 2009, most recently seen as Alex Summers aka Havok in this summer’s reboot “X-Men: First Class.” He was shortlisted for the role of Peeta opposite Jennifer Lawrence in “The Hunger Games” (ultimately losing to Josh Hutcherson) and just wrapped up shooting a role in “Stoker” opposite Mia Wasikowska, Nicole Kidman and Matthew Goode.
