Miles Teller and Analeigh Tipton to have a “Two Night Stand”

August 1, 2012 | Posted by Linda Ge in Casting Leave a comment

The next wave of future movie stars are graduating from playing best friends and sidekicks to lead roles and it’s exciting to hear about two of the most promising joining forces to do so. Miles Teller and Analeigh Tipton will headline romantic comedy “Two Night Stand”, according to Variety.

Max Nichols will make his feature directorial debut from a Black List script by Mark Hammer. Teller and Tipton play “a pair of unlikely lovers” who have have a one night stand but are forced to stay together as they get trapped the next morning by a record-setting blizzard. We’re betting they end up discovering they’re more suited for each other than they initially thought over the course of the blizzard. Filming is set to begin at the end of September.

After making his feature film debut opposite Nicole Kidman in “Rabbit Hole”, Teller went on to do comedies, including supporting roles in “Footloose”, “Project X” and starring roles in the upcoming “21 and Over” and “Get a Job.” Before having a two night stand with Tipton he’ll film “The Spectacular Now” opposite Shailene Woodley and Brie Larson. Tipton, perhaps the most successful alum to come out of reality show “America’s Next Top Model”, recently appeared in “Crazy Stupid Love” and Whit Stillman’s “Damsels in Distress”, and will next be seen in zombie love story “Warm Bodies” with Teresa Palmer and Nicholas Hoult.

“Crazy Stupid Love” filmmakers want Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone to reunite for a third time in “Focus”

April 20, 2012 | Posted by Linda Ge in Casting 1 Comment

We all loved Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone in “Crazy Stupid Love”, and can’t wait to see them together again in “Gangster Squad”, but is the world ready for a third dose of Gosling/Stone? The filmmakers behind their first collaboration certainly hope so. Deadline reports Glenn Ficarra and John Requa have made a deal to direct their script “Focus” for Warner Bros, and they are hoping Gosling and Stone will join them.

“Focus” is set in the world cons and tells the story of a veteran conman who gets romantically involved with a newcomer. Things don’t work out but complications ensue when they are reunited in the future. Presumably Ficarra and Requa are eyeing Gosling for the pro and Stone as the newcomer, though Deadline reiterates that things have not progressed that far with the studio yet.

Gosling and Stone completed filming on Ruben Fleischer’s “Gangster Squad” earlier this year and there is no release date yet. Stone is one of the most sought-after young comedic actresses today after breaking out in a major way in “Easy A”, which landed her a Golden Globe nomination. This summer she’ll be seen as Gwen Stacy in Marc Webb’s reboot “The Amazing Spider-Man”, and she’s reportedly one of the favorites to play the female lead opposite Johnny Depp in Rob Marshall’s “The Thin Man.” Gosling is currently in Thailand shooting boxing drama “Only God Forgives” with his “Drive” director Nicholas Winding Refn, and the two are set to work together a third time on a remake of “Logan’s Run.” This fall he’ll also shoot Terrence Malick’s newest feature, formerly titled “Lawless”, opposite Christian Bale and Natalie Portman.

Emma Stone to drive a cocaine-stashed “Little White Corvette”

Emma Stone remains one of the busiest and most in demand young actresses around and continues to build a nicely diverse portfolio of roles, with Deadline now reporting she has attached herself to star in “Little White Corvette”, a drug deal comedy written by “30 Minutes or Less” scribe Michael Diliberti.

Stone will play a wild young woman who, along with her nerdy little brother, travel to Miami to try and sell a million dollar stash of cocaine that they find in their late father’s car. Stone has been circling the project since last summer and shooting is expected to begin in late summer, though no director has jumped on board yet.

Stone caught Hollywood’s attention in her 2007 breakout role in “Superbad” and then in 2009′s “Zombieland”, but it was “Easy A” that showed her true movie star potential and landed her a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress to boot. This year, she headlined rom-com “Crazy Stupid Love” and Civil Rights era drama “The Help”, an Oscar front-runner in several categories. She recently wrapped up the role of Gwen Stacy in Marc Webb’s “The Amazing Spider-Man” and is currently shooting period mob drama “Gangster Squad”, reuniting with “Crazy” co-star Ryan Gosling. Stone is also attached to romanic comedy “He’s Fuckin’ Perfect” but that appears to still be in the early stages.

First Look: Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone on the set of “Gangster Squad”

Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone look the epitome of suburban domestic bliss in our first look at a scene being filmed on Ruben Fleicsher’s 1940s mob drama “Gangster Squad.” The two look perfectly at home and believable in 1940s garb for the “30 Minutes of Less” director’s first foray into serious drama, and appear altogether a different couple than the one they played in this summer’s charming romantic comedy “Crazy, Stupid, Love.”

Gosling and Stone are joined in the film by a stellar cast that is rounded out by Sean Penn, Josh Brolin and Anthony Mackie. In the Will Beall-scripted crime drama based on a true story, Penn will be notorious Los Angeles mobster Mickey Cohen, a charismatic figure who was also a bit of a celebrity, even being featured in a Life Magazine profile. But he was also considered a sociopath with a dark side, and Gosling and Brolin’s pair of cops are called in to put a stop to his dealings when innocent people start getting hurt. Mackie will play former LAPD lieutenant Rocky Washington. Stone plays a “sharp-tongued siren” who gets caught in a love triangle between Penn’s mobster and Gosling’s good guy though she seems pretty into the good guy in these first pictures.

Dave Franco leads trio of new actors joining “Warm Bodies” starring Nicholas Hoult and Teresa Palmer

Summit Entertainment continues to build an impressive cast for its existential zombie love story “Warm Bodies”, as Variety reports Dave Franco, Analeigh Tipton and Cory Hardrict have joined the cast in strong supporting roles. Nicholas Hoult and Teresa Palmer headline the pic and John Malkovich is negotiating to play the film’s main villain.

Hoult plays R, a formerly emotionless zombie who begins to feel feelings after consuming the brain of Perry Kelvin (to be played by Franco), a young member of the human resistance hiding and fighting off the zombie apocalypse. Kelvin gets inside R’s head, flooding him with memories and emotions and he begins to feel protective of Kelvin’s still human girlfriend, Julie, played by Palmer. Julie and R begin an unlikely friendship that proves to have transformative consequences for both human and zombiekind. Rob Corddry is on board as R’s zombie best friend M, while Tipton will play Julie’s human best friend Nora. Malkovich’s stern human army leader General Grigio also happens to be Julie’s father, while Hardrict will play Kevin, his right hand man. Jonathan Levine will direct the film, set to get underway in Montreal shortly.

Franco, James’ little brother, has had a string of 2nd-male-lead roles in the past few months, twice opposite Anton Yelchin, in “Fright Night” and the currently filming “Odd Thomas”. He also wrapped up the villain role in Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum’s “21 Jump Street” reboot. Tipton, a runner-up on “America’s Next Top Model”, has been having a lot of success transitioning from modeling to acting, with roles recently in “The Green Hornet” and “Crazy, Stupid, Love.” Hardrict, who may be familiar to audiences now as Tia Mowrey’s real life husband as they star in their own reality show “Tia & Tamera”, was most recently seen on the big screen in “Battle Los Angeles.”

Emma Stone to reuinte with Ryan Gosling in “Gangster Squad”

Looks like these guys can’t get enough of Emma Stone. The meteorically rising young actress is about to tread some familiar territory as she enters negotiations for “Gangster Squad”, a film that will reunite her not only with her “Zombieland” director Ruben Fleischer, who is helming the pic, but also with “Crazy, Stupid, Love” co-star Ryan Gosling, who is the star. Stone and Gosling will be joined in the 1940s drama by Sean Penn, Josh Brolin and Anthony Mackie.

Mackie will play former LAPD lieutenant Rocky Washington, while Stone, according to Variety’s Showblitz blog, is in talks to play a “sharp-tongued siren” who gets caught in a love triangle between Penn’s mobster and Gosling’s good guy.

She broke out on the scene with a supporting role in 2007′s “Superbad” but it was 2010′s “Easy A” that showed Stone had serious potential as a future A-Lister. She just wrapped up playing Gwen Stacy opposite Andrew Garfield in “The Amazing Spider-Man” for director Marc Webb and will next be seen showing off her dramatic chops in August’s “The Help”, based on the best-selling novel by Kathryn Stockett.

Ryan Gosling and Bradley Cooper to star in crime drama from “Blue Valentine” director

May 6, 2011 | Posted by Rebecca Lewis in Casting 1 Comment

This writer here adored last year’s Blue Valentine and felt Ryan Gosling deserved a place on that Best Actor nomination list, so today’s news from Variety, that director Derek Cianfrance and Gosling are teaming back up for a new project sure is exciting!

The Place Beyond the Pines is a “multi-generational crime drama”, and will also star Bradley Cooper as a rookie police officer whose confrontation with Gosling’s character, a first-time Dad who turns to bank robbery to support his son, turns into a life long feud.

Both Gosling and Cooper‘s names are currently popular in Hollywood and are often bandied about during casting speculation. Since his star turn in 2008′s The Hangover, Cooper has seen several box office duds – including All About Steve – and early word about the sequel to The Hangover does not sound good. Next up for Gosling however is Crazy, Stupid, Love, the trailer for which was brilliant, and The Ides of March with the ever reliable George Clooney.

Cianfrance will be directing from a script he co-wrote with Ben Coccio, and the film is being sold at this years Cannes Film Festival.

Watch: Ryan Gosling falls for Emma Stone in first “Crazy, Stupid, Love” trailer

Ryan Gosling (in a role that would have seemed more conventionally suited for Ryan Reynolds) dusts off his comedic chops in the first trailer for “Crazy, Stupid, Love”, in which he plays a smooth operator and total player who takes a hapless Steve Carell under his wing after wife Julianne Moore admits to cheating on him and wanting a divorce. Gosling’s Jacob goes “She’s All That” on Carell’s Cal, transforming him from socially awkward to cool enough to land Marisa Tomei. But of course there’s a journey for Jacob too, as he meets Emma Stone’s Hannah and suddenly find his former lifestyle of partying and casual sex less appealing.

Glenn Ficarra and John Requa directed from Dan Fogelman’s script. “Crazy, Stupid, Love” hits theaters smack dab in the middle of summer blockbuster season on July 29, 2011, where it will go head to head with Jon Favreau’s “Cowboys & Aliens”.
