Romanian director Nae Caranfil is deep into filming on location on period drama “Closer to the Moon”, starring Vera Farmiga and “Game of Thrones” actor Harry Lloyd, and some promotional and behind the scenes photos and video have been snapped by local journalists.

Set in 1959 Bucharest, the film follows a group of Jewish former anti-Nazi revolutionaries who are arrested and sentenced to death after robbing a bank. Before their scheduled deaths, they are forced to star in a propaganda film for the enemy. Lloyd will play a cameraman assigned to the shoot, who falls in love with Farmiga’s character. She, in turn, has a child with one of the doomed men, played by Mark Strong. Christian McKay, Joe Armstrong, Tim Plester, Anton Lesser and Allan Corduner round out the cast.

The film is expected to shoot through November 7th in Bucharest and be completed by April of 2012 in time to submit to the Cannes Film Festival in May. Below are a behind the scenes video and some photos of Lloyd filming.
