British rising star Nicholas Hoult is the latest to join Gillian Flynn adaptation “Dark Places”, according to Deadline. Charlize Theron and Chloe Moretz were previously cast in the Gilles Paquet-Brenner film.
Theron will play Libby Day who, at seven years old, witnessed the murder of her entire family and later testified that her fifteen year old brother Ben was the killer. Twenty-five years later, a secret society obsessed with solving notorious crimes pumps Libby for the truth as they uncover clues that point to Ben’s innocence. Hoult will play Lyle, the awkward young treasurer of that secret society, The Kill Club. Moretz appears in flashback scenes as Diondra.
Hoult was most recently seen as the lead of surprise zombie rom com “Warm Bodies” opposite Teresa Palmer. You may also remember him as the little boy from “About a Boy” or as Tony on UK teen series “Skins.” He’s currently filming futuristic thriller “Young Ones” opposite Michael Shannon and Elle Fanning and will soon return to reprise his role as Beast in “X-Men: Days of Future Past.” Rupert Wyatt also recently chose Hoult as the lead in his feature film adaptation of “Birdsong.”
