Watch: Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson are “Pitch Perfect” in trailer for new Glee-style comedy

File this one under Films I’ll Be Watching On Opening Weekend!

Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson go all “Glee” on us in the first trailer for “Pitch Perfect“, which premiered on Yahoo Movies!. A female-centric comedy, the film follows rival a cappela groups at the fictional Barton University. Kendrick stars as Beca, a freshman student who is cajoled into joining The Bellas. After realising their reportoire is stuck in the last century, it’s clearly down to Beca, and fellow new singers including Wilson’s Fat Amy to get The Bellas to the Finals.

This first trailer showcases Kendrick’s gorgeous singing voice (check out 2003′s “Camp” for another example!) but it looks like Wilson (“Bridesmaids“) is going to be the scene-stealer here, taking on her weight, a hate for cardio and comparing crystal meth to kissing the wrong boys – all in one two and half minute trailer!

Also starring Brittany Snow, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Adam DeVine and Elizabeth Banks, “Pitch Perfect” is released in October.

Brittany Snow joins Anna Kendrick in “Pitch Perfect”

Brittany Snow is the latest to join Universal’s musical comedy “Pitch Perfect”, reports THR. Snow joins Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Alexis Knapp and Adam Devine in the film set in the world of collegiate a capella singing groups.

In the Jason Moore directed comedy based on the nonfiction book of the same name by Mickey Rapkin, Kendrick plays a goth loner type who finds herself becoming the secret weapon of an all-female a capella group, while Devine is the leader of a “competitive” group. Knapp will play Stacie, a member of the group Divisi, who doesn’t notice that she always sings in an overtly sexual manner, no matter the song, while Snow will be Chloe, a “somewhat rigid personality” in the group. Production is slated to begin next month in Baton Rouge.

Snow is perhaps still best known for her role as Meg Pryor, the idealistic teenager at the center of 1960s family drama “American Dreams”, which ran for three seasons on NBC in 2002-2005. She’s also taken on lead roles in teen oriented films like “John Tucker Must Die” and “Prom Night” and was recently announced to be leaving NBC’s “Harry’s Law” after a regular role during its first season.

New poster, stills and trailer for Abigail Breslin’s “Janie Jones”

Here’s a first look at Abigail Breslin in new film Janie Jones also starring Elisabeth Shue and Alessandro Nivola. Premièring back in April at Tribeca Film Festival, the film has received solid reviews ready for wide release on October 28th this year.

Also starring Brittany Snow, Frank Whaley, Joel Moore and Peter Stormar, the film follows an ageing rocker, whose life is suddenly transformed when his teenage daughter is left in his care.

Rocker Ethan Brand (Alessandro Nivola) and his band, the Ethan Brand Experience, are on the comeback trail when a former flame (Oscar® nominee Elisabeth Shue) drops a bomb in his lap—their 13-year-old daughter, Janie Jones (Abigail Breslin). Ethan refuses to believe Janie is his kid, but when her mom suddenly leaves for rehab, the child has no place to go but with the band.

With no inclination toward fatherhood, Ethan continues his hard-living ways, leaving Janie to fend for herself in the dive bars and sleazy motels along the way. As his drug- and booze-fueled antics take their toll on and off stage, the band deserts him one by one, until he and Janie are left alone.

Desperate to finish the tour and revive his career, Ethan stays on the road as a solo act with Janie in tow. As Ethan’s self-destructive spiral threatens to derail his comeback, Janie uses her own surprising musical talents to help guide him down the rocky road to redemption.

Below the cut we have several images from the film, plus the new poster and a trailer.
