In the last couple of years, Scandinavian television has become popular because of it’s fresh storytelling, dark undertones and inventive characters. Since this phenomenon, the US has run the remake mill and remade “The Killing” on AMC (to then axe it after two seasons, and then save it again on Netflix) and “The Bridge,” the impressive Danish show, on FX. The latest, “Those Who Kill,” another interesting and dark Scandinavian crime series has appeared on A&E boasting an impressive cast and director – but is it any more than that? BasedRead More
Emma Watson
Emma Watson, much like Daniel Radcliffe, has chosen her roles after “Harry Potter” very wisely. She’s now signed up to star alongside Ethan Hawke in new thriller “Regression,” according to The Wrap.   Alejandro Amenábar is directing the movie from his own original screenplay, which will be released on August 28, 2015 by TWC-Dimension. The plotline is being kept under wraps, though Watson says via press release: “I am passionate about Alejandro and his work and am so happy to be collaborating with him. I’m really excited by the challengeRead More
Michael Pitt made his name recently on HBO’s excellent “Boardwalk Empire.” Now, he’s returning to TV in a major role in the surprisingly interesting and dark NBC version of “Hannibal,” starring Mads Mikkelsen as the infamous cannibal, according to EW. Pitt is playing Mason Verger, an unstable and rich patient of Dr. Hannibal Lecter  who “begins a dangerous cat-and-mouse game with the deadly serial killer.” The role was previously played by Gary Oldman in the 2001 film of the same name. It sounds very interesting and Pitt’s TV experience will comeRead More

Kristen Stewart Joining Julianne Moore in “Still Alice”

Lisa Genova‘s “Still Alice” was a cracking book when it was first released. It tackled key themes and was a heartbreaking tale. Now, it looks like it’s making its way onto the big screen. The film seems to be picking up pace too. It’s been confirmed via Screen daily that Kristen Stewart has joined alongside Alec Baldwin, Kate Bosworth  and Julianne Moore in the Memento Films production. Moore will play Alice, a fifty year old woman  who discovers she has Alzheimer’s. Stewart will play Lydia, her youngest daughter, who hasRead More
Benedict Cumberbatch is the hottest talent in the world right now. He cracked Hollywood in “Star Trek Into Darkness,” he’s trading slaves in the Oscar magnet “12 Years a Slave,” he’s on everyone’s TV screens as “Sherlock” Holmes and he’s in one of the biggest franchises at the moment as a bloomin’ dragon! Now, Cumberbatch  has been attached to star in the thriller “Blood Mountain,” which Altitude Film Sales will be shopping to international buyers at the European Film Market in Berlin, according to Variety. Sergei Bodrov of “Mongol,” and “SeventhRead More
After a sixty year career filled with a variety of roles. From his sci-fi films such as “Tron” and “Iron-Man” to his Oscar-nominated turn in “Crazy Heart”, Jeff Bridges is at the point of his career where he can pick and choose whatever he wants.  He has been trying to make Lois Lowry’s 1993 classic “The Giver” into a film for nearly 20 years. Now, thanks to The Weinstein Company, his dream has become a reality. Two new images have been released from the film, set in a futuristic dystopian society, viaRead More
You’ve got to hand it to Daniel Radcliffe. After the exhausting and long schedule of the “Harry Potter” series I don’t think anyone would begrudge Daniel a break or even a couple of easy roles. However, since “Harry Potter,” Radcliffe has chosen interesting, independent projects to focus on. “The Woman in Black” was an interesting film – and a surprise hit at the box office – which he lead competently enough, but “Kill Your Darlings” was an incredible acting performance. Now, it appears Radcliffe will continue his streak of periodRead More
“The Beauty and the Beast” is a familiar classic to all of us English speaking folk thanks to Walt Disney, but many probably don’t know the particulars of the original French fairy tale “La Belle et la Bête.” This upcoming French-language live-action retelling of the story looks like it’s going back to its roots and telling a darker tale than its English animated cousin. Sprawling landscapes, detailed costumes and sets all feature. Director Christophe Gans looks like he wants to make an epic, and he also looks like he’s gone for aRead More
Jack Bauer will have even more help in London in Fox’s upcoming “24: Live Another Day” revival from another terrific TV actress. “Dexter” and “Chuck” star Yvonne Strahovski has boarded the miniseries starring Kiefer Sutherland, Fox announced Monday. “24: Live Another Day” will film in London and pick up with Bauer several years after the events in the final season of “24.” Strahovski, who is fresh off the disappointing final season of “Dexter,” will portray Kate Morgan, a brilliant but impulsive CIA operative in London. Strahovski joins an already impressiveRead More
