Nick Robinson and Alex Roe Join ‘The 5th Wave’

The film adaptation of Rick Yancey’s “The 5th Wave” has found its leading men in Nick Robinson and Alex Roe. The two will be joining the previously announced Chloe Moretz in the franchise hopeful, THR reports. “The 5th Wave” follows Moretz’s Cassie, a 16 year old girl who is one of the earth’s few survivors after an alien invasion wipes out almost the entire population. When her little brother is taken away, Cassie starts on a journey to find him. However, it wouldn’t be a YA film without a love interest,Read More
TVLine reports that Heather Lind, best known for her work on AMC’s “Turn,” will guest star in the second season of “Sleepy Hollow.” Lind will play Mary Wells, an ex-girlfriend of Ichabod’s (Tom Mison) from his days in England. The character is described as “at first pleasant and sweet” before her darker side comes out, the side that’s “flighty, moody, and prone to fits of extreme jealousy.” Mary makes her first appearance in episode five of the second season, but “Turn” fans needn’t worry about what this means for Lind’s characterRead More

Luke Evans Joins the Cast of ‘High-Rise’

Luke Evans, along with Elisabeth Moss, has joined the cast of Ben Wheatley’s “High-Rise,” Variety reports. The duo join a star-studded cast including Tom Hiddleston, Sienna Miller, Jeremy Irons, and James Purefoy. “High-Rise” focuses on those involved with a residential tower built as a solution to the problems facing London at the time. Nothing is known about Evans’ role in the film, but Hiddleston will be playing Robert Laing, a doctor seduced by the high-rise and its creator, Anthony Royal (Irons). Miller plays Charlotte, Royal’s aide who strikes up aRead More
life after beth - header
A24 has released the first posters and trailer for “Life After Beth,” and it looks to usher in a new type of love story. Is zom-com a genre yet? The film starts Dane DeHaan (Chronicle, The Place Beyond the Pines, The Amazing Spider-Man 2) as Zach, a young man mourning the unexpected death of his girlfriend Beth (Aubrey Plaza). However, their relationship gets a second chance when Beth is mysteriously resurrected. At first, things seem to play out nicely. We see Zach mourning, and we see the way he andRead More
After premiering earlier this year at Sundance, we have our first clip from “Happy Christmas,” courtesy of JustJared. The film, written and directed by Joe Swanberg, is the first of several Anna Kendrick starrers set for release this year. “Happy Christmas” follows Jenny (Kendrick), a young woman who moves in with her older brother Jeff (Swanberg), his wife Kelly (Melaine Lynsky), and their two year old son. Her presence, along with that of her friend Carson (Lena Dunham), shakes up their home life. In the meantime, Jenny manages to strike upRead More
It’s been dubbed “The Big Chill” for this generation, and now we have the first trailer for “About Alex.” The film follows a group of 20-something year old friends that come together for a weekend at a cabin after the attempted suicide of one of their own (Jason Ritter). Sound familiar? The film, written and directed by Jesse Zwick, brings together an all-star cast mostly known for their work on the small screen including Aubrey Plaza, Max Greenfield, Nate Parker, Max Minghella, Jane Levy, and Maggie Grace. “About Alex” hitsRead More
Although the series is still in the midst of filming its fifth season, we have the first look at “Downton Abbey” on set photos courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter. The photos themselves aren’t too spoilery, with most of them being behind the scenes shots, including one of Michelle Dockery with an iPhone while still dressed as Lady Mary. However, in one photo we do get a glimpse of a scene being filmed and it seems to involves Lady Mary and Violet Crawley (Maggie Smith), among other cast members. “Downton Abbey’s” 5thRead More
keiynan lonsdale
After leaving the character out of the first film, Keiynan Lonsdale has been cast in the “Divergent” sequel “Insurgent” as fan-favorite Uriah. Uriah, as most fans probably already know, is a Dauntless-born initiate that can usually be seen with Lynn (Rosa Salazar) and Marlene (Suki Waterhouse). With his casting having been announced, it seems as though all the major players for the sequel are set. The sequel picks up where the last film left off, with Tris (Shailene Woodley), Four (Theo James), Peter (Miles Teller), and Caleb (Ansel Elgort) on theRead More

REVIEW: ‘The Fault in Our Stars’ Gets It Right

“The Fault in Our Stars” is, for the most part, a great movie. Based on John Green’s best-selling novel of the same name, the movie follows Hazel Grace Lancaster (Shailene Woodley) and Augustus Waters (Ansel Elgort), two teens with cancer who fall in love with each other. But this isn’t your Nicholas Sparks-esque story. We know what’s at stake going in, we’re not smacked in the face with twist after twist. We’re not waiting for the big C to rear its ugly head. From Hazel’s cannula to Gus’ prosthetic leg,Read More
In early May, Fox held the first screening of “The Fault in Our Stars” in New York City, and we were lucky enough to not only see the film, but also attend the press conference with the cast and filmmakers. The press conference, which was streamed online, can still be viewed here. The lineup included stars Shailene Woodley, Ansel Elgort, Nat Wolff, Laura Dern, and Sam Tramell (who actually has a young son named Gus), director Josh Boone, and author John Green. It was obvious from the interaction between theRead More
