Jack O’Connell is headed to Netflix!
Steven Soderbergh and Scott Frank’s upcoming Netflix Western drama “Godless” has chosen its star. According to The Hollywood Reporter O’Connell will headline the series for Netflix.
“Godless” is set in 1884 and follows ruthless outlaw Frank Griffin as he hunts down his former partner Roy Goode. Griffin rips through the West looking for the young man he treated like his child and now considers an enemy. The search leads Frank to La Belle, a town where the entire population is female.
O’Connell will play Roy. The young man was orphaned as a child and Griffin took Roy under his wing. Eventually Frank’s behavior was intolerable, so Roy takes off with the ill-gotten gains from a robbery. Now injured and on the run, Roy is just trying to stay one step ahead of Frank.
Frank will serve as writer, direction and executive producer. Soderbergh and Casey Silver will also executive produce.
O’Connell is known for his role in Angelina Jolie’s “Unbroken.” While this is his first television role since the breakout role in the film, O’Connell was a fan favorite during his stint on UK series “Skins.” His other film credits include “Money Monster,” “Tulip Fever” and “The Man Who Killed Don Quixote.”
