Dylan O’Brien may be getting into the spy game.

The “Teen Wolf” star is in talks to join “American Assassin.” EW reports O’Brien will play CIA counter-terrorism operative Mitch Rapp in the adaptation of Vince Flynn’s bestselling series.

“American Assassin” centers on Cold War veteran Stand Hurley (Michael Keaton) and the young man he trains to become a ruthless spy. O’Brien’s Mitch Rapp is a young man who is deeply impacted by the death of his fiancée. The terrorist attack that ends her life sends Mitch down a dangerous path.

The film could be the beginning of another spy film franchise.

CBS Films and Lionsgate are teaming up for “American Assassin.” Michael Cuesta will direct the film written by Stephen SchiffLorenzo di Bonaventura, Marshall Herskovitz and Nick Wechsler are producing.

There was some doubt about O’Brien’s ability to appear in the film. The actor sustained some injuries during an accident on the set of the third installment of “The Maze Runner” film series. It appears the actor will be ready to go when the production begins.

O’Brien made a splash when he landed the lead role in “The Maze Runner” series. The actor’s other film credits include “The Internship” and “The First Time.” His upcoming projects include “Deepwater Horizon” and “Little White Corvette.”
