‘We have a new Tomb Raider!
A “Tomb Raider” reboot was previously announced, but now we know the young actress leading the project. According to The Hollywood Reporter Alicia Vikander will play Lara Croft.
The film centers on a young Lara Croft on her first adventure. The dangerous journey will lead her to becoming the badass longtime fans of the franchise know and love.
Roar Uthaug is set to direct while Graham King will produce.
MGM and Warner Bros are teaming up on the production.
Vikander is not the first actress to play Lara Croft on the big screen. Angelina Jolie previously played the role in 2001’s “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider” and the 2003 sequel “Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life.”
Recent reports on the project has Stars Wars star Daisy Ridley up for the role, but apparently the project has gone in a different direction.
Vikander has been on quite the streak the last couple of years. “The Fifth Estate,” “Ex Machina,” “The Man From U.N.C.L.E.,” and “The Danish Girl” are some of the high profile roles the actress has nabbed. Her upcoming projects include “Tulip Fever,” “The Light Between Oceans,” “Submergence” and the highly anticipated “Jason Bourne.”
