Disney is closing in on the lead actor for the upcoming Han Solo “Stars Wars” spinoff.
According to The Hollywood Reporter Taron Egerton, Alden Ehrenreich and Jack Reynor are what remain of the short list after testing occurred in London. Finding the young man to take on a role made famous by Harrison Ford was no simple task. The highly sought after role brought 2,500 actors into the mix throughout the casting process.
The actor who nabs the role will star in a “Star Wars” spinoff set for 2018. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller will direct.
Egerton came out of the gate swinging with a starring role in “The Kingsman,” which he followed up with another lead role opposite Hugh Jackman in “Eddie The Eagle.” Ehrenreich, whose credits include “Beautiful Creatures” and “Blue Jasmine,” recently did some incredible work in “Hail, Caesar!.” Reynor is best known for his work in “Transformers: Age of Extinction” and will be returned for the upcoming installment.
