Dane DeHaan and Cara Delevingne have been set as the leads in Luc Besson’s next film, a sci-fi thriller called “Valerian,” the director announced on Twitter.
The story was first published in 1967 in France as “Valerian and Laureline,” and will follow DeHaan and Delevingne as a spacetime-traveling agent and his female counterpart. The series was created by Pierre Christin and Jean-Claude Mezieres. Mazieres has history with Besson, having acted as a concept designer on Besson’s “The Fifth Element.”
The film will begin shooting in December and will be released in 2017.
DeHaan’s credits include “Lawless,” “Kill Your Darlings” and “The Amazing Spider-Man 2.” His upcoming projects include “Life” and “Tulip Fever” and he’s currently filming “Two Lovers and a Bear” opposite Tatiana Maslany. Delevingne is a supermodel transitioning to a successful acting career, thanks to landing the female lead role in this summer’s “Paper Towns” and a significant role as Enchantress in comic book adaptation “Suicide Squad.”
