ABC Family’s “Shadowhunters” has found its star! According to The Wrap Katherine McNamara has nabbed the lead role of Clary Fray.
The series, based on Cassandra Clare’s popular book series, follows Clary (McNamara) on a journey into the world of demons and those who hunt them. Clary is an intelligent art student with a bright future, but her life is turned upside down on her eighteenth birthday. Her mother is kidnapped and the young girl learns her life is a lie. She actually comes from a long line of demon hunters called Shadowhunters. With her best friend Simon (Alberto Rosende) by her side Clary must navigate this dangerous new world and embrace her role in it to find her mother.
She joins Dominic Sherwood and Emeraude Toubia, who have already been cast as Jace Wayland and Isabelle Lightwood. Both characters are Shadowhunters who play a big role in Clary’s journey.
McNamara’s credits include “New Year’s Eve” and the short lived MTV series “Happyland.” The actress will soon be seen in the new season of “The Fosters” and the upcoming film “The Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials.”
