ABC Family’s upcoming series “Shadowhunters” has found its male lead. According to The Wrap Dominic Sherwood has joined the television adaptation of “The Mortal Instruments” series by Cassandra Clare.

The drama will follow Clary Fray, a young girl whose life changes forever on her 18th birthday. When her mother Jocelyn is kidnapped, Clary learns her mother, along with the rest of her family line, is a demon hunting human-angel. They are called Shadowhunters and young Clary learns she has so much more to learn about the mysterious new world she has found herself in.

Sherwood will play one of the important men in Clary’s life, Jace. He is a demon hunter who has made finding his father’s murderer his mission. Clary learns a lot about the world of demons and Shadowhunters from the young man, who happens to be equal parts attractive and narcissistic.

Jamie Campbell-Bower played the character in the film adaptation of the book series, which was released in 2013.

Sherwood is known for playing Christian in “Vampire Academy,” the film adaptation of another book series. His other credit include British drama “Mayday” and “Not Fade Away.” The actor has two films, “The Other” and “Take Down,” set to be released.
