After working with Ridley Scott on “The Martian,” Kate Mara is reteaming with the filmmaker on another sci-fi tale, this time to be directed by his son, Luke Scott. THR reports Mara is set to topline “Morgan” alongside newcomer Anya Taylor-Joy.
The story follows “a corporate risk-management consultant who is summoned to a remote research lab to determine whether or not to terminate an at-risk artificial being.” Seth Owen wrote the script, which landed on the 2014 Black List of the best unproduced screenplays.
Mara will next be seen as Sue Storm aka the Invisible Woman in Josh Trank’s “Fantastic Four” reboot opposite Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan and Jamie Bell. She plays an astronaut opposite Matt Damon and Jessica Chastain in Scott’s “The Martian.” She’s also wrapped indie thrillers “Man Down” opposite Shia LaBeouf and “Captive” opposite David Oyelowo.
Taylor-Joy broke out in Canadian horror flick “The Witch,” which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival to tremendous buzz.
