Charlie Hunnam Replaces Benedict Cumberbatch in ‘The Lost City of Z’

Sherlock has been replaces with…a biker apparently. The Hollywood Reporter reports that Charlie Hunnam as been cast in “The Lost City of Z,” in a role Benedict Cumberbatch was previously attached to play.

The film, an adaptation of David Grann’s novel, follows Colonel Percy Harrison (Hunnam) on his last adventure into the Amazon. The English solider became an explorer and developed an obssession with discovering an anicnet civilization he is determined to prove lived in the Amazon. After the failure of several funded expeditions, Harrison decides to pay for one last adventure out of his pocket. Sienna Miller and Robert Pattinson will also star.

James Grey will serves at the director while Marc Butan, Julie B. May and Glenn Murray executive produce. Dede Gardner, Dale Johnson, Anthony Katagas, Jeremy Kleiner and Brad Pitt will produce.

Hunnam just ended a seven season stint as the star of FX’s “Sons of Anarchy.” Since then he has been pursuing a film career with “Pacific Rim” under his belt as well as the upcoming films “Crimson Peak” and “Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur.”
