English Actress Felicity Jones is reportedly nearing a deal for the lead role in Gareth Edwards’ “Star Wars” spinoff film. After competing with other actresses including Tatiana Maslany (“Orphan Black”) and Rooney Mara (“The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”), it seems Jones has emerged as the frontrunner for the lead role. Details of the film’s plot are under wraps, but rumors suggest it will involve character Boba Fett.
The film is also in need of a lead male, for which Aaron Paul (“Breaking Bad”) is rumored to be in consideration. With a script penned by Chris Weitz (“Cinderella”), the film is set to be released in December 2016.
Jones is currently making rounds on the awards circuit for her role as Jane Hawking in “The Theory of Everything”, for which she has been nominated for an Oscar. She will next be seen in drama “True Story” alongside James Franco and Jonah Hill.
