Disney’s fourth sequel to “Pirates of the Caribbean” has found its new young male lead in Brenton Thwaites, and now he needs a love interest. Variety reports young actresses going in for the female lead role in the film include Kaya Scodelario, Gabriella Wilde, Lucy Boynton, Jenna Thiam and Alexandra Dowling.
“Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” features Thwaites as a young British soldier who must team up with Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) on some new maritime adventure. The actresses in contention will go in for chemistry tests with Thwaites over the next week or so. Javier Bardem is also on board to play the film’s villain.
Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg will begin directing the film in spring 2015 for a July 17, 2015 release.
Scodelario, an alum of British teen soap “Skins,” is now best known for her role in “The Maze Runner” franchise. Wilde was last seen in the “Endless Love” remake opposite Alex Pettyfer. Boynton is a former child actress known for her debut in “Miss Potter” and “Ballet Shoes” opposite Emma Watson, while Thiam is a French actress best known for hit zombie series “The Returned.” Dowling played a bit part on “Game of Thrones” before breaking out on BBC’s “The Musketeers.”
