Despite the fact that “Captain America: Civil War” will pit Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr) against Cap (Chris Evans), it looks like the film will still have a villain and Daniel Bruhl has been cast to play the as-yet unannounced character.
The film, based on a popular recent arc from the comics, will also feature the first appearance of Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther before he headlines his own solo film. Joe and Anthony Russo, who helmed “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” will return to direct, while co-stars Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Sebastian Stan as the Winter Soldier and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury are expected back as well. Unclear is the status of Anthony Mackie’s Falcon, though it would be surprising if he sat this one out. “Civil War” will be released on May 6, 2016.
Bruhl broke out in Quentin Tarantino’s “Inglourious Basterds” and most recently starred opposite Chris Hemsworth in Ron Howard’s “Rush.” He’s currently filming political thriller “Colonia” opposite Emma Watson.
