Omar Sy and directors Olivier Nakache and Eric Toledano have one thing in common: breakout 2012 film “Intouchables.” All three have teamed up again for “Samba” and the first trailer for the highly anticipated follow-up film has been released.
The film stars Sy as Samba, a man who migrated from Senegal to France 10 years before the events of the film. Since living in France, Samba has worked low-paying jobs while trying to obtain proper employment papers. When he meets Alice, played by Charlotte Gainsbourg, Samba finds she may not only be able to help him with his papers, but she could be his best chance at happiness. Tahar Rahim also stars as Samba’s good friend and coworker.
“Samba” is having its world premiere as a Gala presentation at the Toronto International Film Festival. The film will premiere on October 15 in France, but without a distributor in the United States yet Toronto could be this film’s best shot.
