Aurora Perrineau, 20, is joining Nicholas Hoult and Kristen Stewart in “Like Crazy” director Drake Doremus‘ upcoming sci-fi romance “Equals,” reports Deadline.
Written by “Moon” screenwriter Nathan Parker, “Equals” is set in a futuristic society where emotions have been eradicated and a new breed of humans, known as Equals, live peacefully until a disease, known as Switched-On-Syndrome, starts to activate emotions in its victims. Hoult plays Silas, a young man infected with the disease, who meets and falls for Nia (Stewart), another human with the same taboo status that forces the victims to become outcasts from society.
Perrineau will play Iris, a new mother whose baby is born crying, while “You’re Next” actress Kate Lyn Sheil also joins the cast as Shiel, a co-worker of Silas and Nia. The Ridley Scott-produced film, which also includes Guy Pearce, starts filming next month in Japan and Singapore.
Perrineau, the daughter of actors Harold and Brittany Perrineau, made her acting debut in a 2011 episode of ABC Family’s “Pretty Little Liars” and has also appeared in Christopher Ray’s “A House Is Not a Home.” She will next be seen as Shana in the upcoming “Jem and the Holograms” film.
