Teresa Palmer has landed the female lead role and will join Edgar Ramirez and Luke Bracey in the remake of Kathryn Bigelow’s cult classic actioner “Point Break,” according to Variety.
Ericson Core is directing the remake about a young FBI agent (Bracey) who goes undercover to infiltrate a gang of extreme sports enthusiasts, led by Ramirez, who may be committing crimes when they’re not surfing and skydiving. Palmer will play Bracey’s love interest, likely taking over the role of an orphaned surfer girl from Lori Petty, who played her in the original. The new “Point Break” will be released on August 7, 2015.
Palmer, known for “Warm Bodies,” recently wrapped Aussie thriller “Kill Me Three Times” and Terrence Malick’s “Knight of Cups.” She’s currently got two films playing at the LA Film Festival, “Cut Bank” with Liam Hemsworth and “The Ever After” with real life husband Mark Webber. She next films John Hillcoat’s “Triple Nine” opposite an all-star cast.
