Anthony Mackie, 35, is in negotiations to join Seth Rogen and Joseph Gordon-Levitt in Jonathan Levine‘s “Untitled Xmas Comedy” for Sony, reports The Wrap.

Levine, who previously directed Rogen and Gordon-Levitt in the 2011 cancer dramedy “50/50,” will direct this featured based on his original screenplay, which centers on “three childhood best friends who reunite in New York City for their annual tradition of going out on Christmas Eve.” No word from Sony, however, as to the status of Mackie’s involvement in the film, but it’s fair to assume that he is up for the role of one of the three best friends. The film is scheduled to start shooting this summer.

Mackie is best known for his breakthrough roles in the 2004 LGBT drama “Brother to Brother” and Kathryn Bigelow’s 2009 Oscar-winning drama “The Hurt Locker.” He will next be seen in Paul Bettany’s homeless drama “Shelter” opposite Jennifer Connelly, John Hillcoat’s cop drama “Triple Nine” with Aaron Paul and Chiwetel Ejiofor, and is also set to reunite with “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” co-star Chris Evans for Justin Reardon’s rom-com “A Many Splintered Thing.”
