Relatively unknown Australian actor Hugo Johnstone-Burt has been cast in upcoming summer tentpole “San Andreas,” according to Inside Film. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson leads the earthquake disaster action flick, with Carla Gugino, Ioan Grufford, Alexandra Daddario and “Arrow” star Colton Haynes rounding out the cast.
Johnson plays a former Special Ops firefighter who must scour a totally destroyed California after a most intense Earthquake, looking for his family. His ex-wife will played by Gugino and their daughter Daddario. Grufford will play Gugino’s new fiance, a wealthy real estate developer. Johnstone-Burt is set for the role of “a quirky and charming guy,” who meets Daddario’s character shortly before the quake and helps her get to safety. Filming is set to begin under the direction of Brad Peyton in Australia this month.
Johnstone-Burt’s screen credits include that stopover on every Australia-to-Hollywood journey, “Home and Away,” where he played Jamie Sharpe for 27 episodes, as well as Aussie series “Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries.”
