The buzz is building, and I’m already more excited about a prospective “Agent Carter” TV series than I ever was about “Agents of SHIELD.” For one thing, we actually know Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell, who will be reprising her “Captain America” role).

As pilot season for the 2014-2015 TV season picks up, Deadline believes this potential series is already so buzzy that it may bypass that aggravating process altogether and be picked up straight to series, set to be announced alongside a second season pick-up for “Agents of SHIELD.” Based on the Marvel One Shot short film of the same title, Atwell will play Peggy as she battles villainous forces after the events of “Captain America: The First Avenger.” Atwell’s option for the series was recently extended, indicating the network has renewed interest in this project. Yes, please.

Atwell not only played Peggy in the 1940s set first “Captain America” film, but played her in modern times as an old woman in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.” Outside the Marvelverse, she’s completed a small role in Kenneth Branagh’s “Cinderella” and has Jimi Hendrix biopic “All Is By My Side” opposite Andre Benjamin awaiting release. She’s also attached to wartime romance “Close Enough” opposite Tom Hiddleston.
