Hailee Steinfeld meddles in Kristen Wiig’s love life, and nothing good can come of it, in the first trailer released for festival hit dramedy “Hateship Loveship.”
Wiig looks sad and lonely in her role as Johanna, who’s hired to care for Steinfeld’s character, Sabitha. Intercepting a letter Johanna sends to Sabitha’s father (Guy Pearce), who’s a recovering alcoholic living in a different city, she orchestrates a blossoming but false romantic relationship, leading to potentially humiliating consequences for her nanny. You can see where there is going. But wait, there appears to be hope for the whole family after all.
The film is based on the short story “Hateship, Friendship, Courtship, Loveship, Marriage” by Alice Munro and was directed by Mark Poirier. It premiered at TIFF last year and has been picked up for distribution by IFC Films. It will be released on April 11th.
