In some of the least surprising casting news this year, Londoner Tom Hardy looks set to play both notorious London gangsters Ronald and Reginald Kray in crime thriller “Legend,” according to Screen Daily.
“The Dark Knight Rises” star is currently in negotiations to headline the film as the infamous, identical twins, who carved a bloody path through London in the ’50s and ’60s with their gang The Firm.
“Legend” is being written and directed by Brian Helgeland, whose previous credits include stand-out crime adaptation “L.A. Confidential” and “Mystic River,” which suggests Helgeland will be delivering something unapologetic and hard-hitting. It couldn’t be in better hands. Though a deal’s yet to be struck and Hardy is weighing offers for other films to star in, we’d love to see Hardy in this hard-hitting role after his marvelous job of crafting “Bronson” for the big screen.
Hardy is a busy man after his breakthrough into Hollywood with “Inception“, “This Means War” and “Warrior.” He’ll next shoot Elton John biopic “Rocketman,” with “Mad Max: Fury Road,” “Locke” and “Child 44” already in the can and set to release this year.
