Deadline reports that “Game of Thrones” actor Kit Harington is set to star in “Spooks: The Greater Good,” a film adaptation of the long-running hit British spy series, also known as “MI-5” in the United States.
Harington will join Jennifer Ehle and former “Spooks” star Peter Firth as ex-MI5 operative Will Crombie, who is brought back in by the Deputy Chief (Ehle) to find out how terrorist Adam Qasim escaped custody during a routine handover and why Head of Counterterrorism Harry Pearce (Firth) disappeared soon afterward. Also Harry’s former protégé, Crombie uncovers a conspiracy that runs from Vietnam to the Mediterranean as an impending attack on London looms. “Spooks” writers Jonathan Brackley and Sam Vincent have penned the script, and the film begins shooting in early 2014 with Bharat Nalluri, the originating director on the series, behind the helm.
Best known as Jon Snow on “Game of Thrones,” now filming its fourth season, Harington will next be seen in fantasy adaptation “The Seventh Son” opposite Alicia Vikander and Ben Barnes as well as Paul W. S. Anderson’s period action flick “Pompeii” opposite Emily Browning.
