Rising comedic actor Nicholas Braun is the latest to join the remake of horror classic “Poltergeist”, according to The Wrap. Rosemarie DeWitt and Sam Rockwell play the leads in the new film, with Jared Harris and Kyle Catlett in supporting roles.
Tobe Hooper directed the 1982 original which saw a family terrorized by a ghostly presence in their home, culminating in the kidnapping of their daughter. Considered one of the best films released that year and a classic of the horror genre, the film spawned two less successful sequels. The 2013 remake will be a “revisionist” take on the tale, following the Bowen family, and was written by David Lindsay-Abaire. Braun will play a grad student documenting the supernatural events, gradually losing his skepticism. Gil Kenan will direct.
Braun is currently shooting monster mash-up comedy “The Kitchen Sink” and also appeared in “The Perks of Being a Wallflower.” He also has coming of age comedy “Get a Job” with Miles Teller and Anna Kendrick awaiting release.
