Aussie rising star Sullivan Stapleton has committed to star in crime thriller “Kill Me Three Times” for director Krive Stenders. Sullivan had been attached to the film last year opposite Alice Braga, Abbie Cornish and Ben Mendelsohn, but it’s unclear if any of the other trio are also still on board.
Braga was to have played the lead, a young woman who “binds three tales of murder, blackmail and revenge in the sleepy surfing town of Eagle’s Nest.” A report in May of this year indicated Simon Pegg has been cast as well, so it appears Stapleton and Pegg may be the only solid cast members heading into this new incarnatio of the project thus far. Filming begins in mid-September for a 2014 release.
Stapleton co-starred with Joel Edgerton in 2010′s “Animal Kingdom”, a movie that’s proven to be quite a starmaker, having also outsourced Oscar nominee Jackie Weaver, Ben Mendelsohn and young up and comer James Frecheville. He was last seen opposite Ryan Gosling and Anthony Mackie in “Gangster Squad” and will soon play the lead role of Themistocles in sequel “300: Rise of an Empire” opposite Eva Green.
