He couldn’t quite conquer Mars or battleships, so will Taylor Kitsch have better luck with a slightly smaller film? Canadian indie comedy “The Grand Seduction” was announced this morning to be premiering as a Gala at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival, and now we have the first images of Kitsch in something quite different from the attempted blockbusters of his recent past.
The film, directed by Don McKellar and written by Michael Dowse and Ken Scott, who also wrote the original French film on which this is based, centers around a small ailing village who needs a doctor in residence in order to land a contract for a new factory to be built. Kitsch will play a disgraced big-city doctor who passes through and ends up on the receiving end of a town-wide “seduction” effort to get him to stay permanently. Brendan Gleeson, Gordon Pinsent, Liane Balaban and Mark Critch co-star.
