Jason Segel has been slowly but steadily turning his name into a multi-hyphenate, starring on the small screen in “How I Met Your Mother”, cracking jokes on the big screen in smash-hit comedies such as “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” and “The Five Year Engagement”, and producing and writing “The Muppets” and “Get Him To The Greek“. Now THR reports that Segel will co-write and star in an untitled comedy centering on punk rockers-turned-fathers.
Based on the 2011 documentary “The Other F Word” which explored “the world of aging punk musicians as they transition into fatherhood and try to maintain the contrast between their anti-authoritarian lifestyle with the responsibilities of being a dad”, the new film centers around a musician who decides to go back on tour years after his band were in their heyday. The documentary featured stars such as Blink-182′s Mark Hoppus and Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Flea.
Segel will co-write with Drew Pearce (“Iron Man 3″) and can next be seen in “This Is 40“, which is released December 21st.
