Here’s the first trailer for a Sundance movie that we really enjoyed. Jonathan Kasdan’s “The First Time” is a romantic comedy about a couple of high schoolers who meet at a party and spend the weekend getting to know each other and fall in love, for the first time. TV stars Britt Robertson and Dylan O’Brien play the would-be couple, while Victoria Justice and James Frecheville play the other potential romantic partners in their lives.
Our own Rebecca Lewis opines that O’Brien is the revelation amongst the cast, “infusing an honest depth in his character that could have easily been one dimensional”, while Robertson “embraced Aubrey’s quirkiness and was convincing in her portrayal of the high school junior stuck between what she knows and what she wants.” But perhaps unsurprisingly, “Submarine” breakout star Craig Roberts steals the show, “playing Dave’s British exchange friend who offers pearls of wisdom and snappy comebacks as he guides Dave through the weekend.”
“The First Time” will be in limited release starting on October 19th, and the trailer can be viewed now below.
