“Les Miserables” fans will immediately recognize the significance of the first poster for Tom Hooper’s big screen adaptation of the hit musical. Instead of featuring any of the major movie stars involved with the movie, it’s a close-up of young actress Isabelle Allen, who plays Cosette as a young child in the film. For those unfamiliar with why this is so brilliant, click here for what the posters for various incarnations of the stage musical look like.
The aforementioned movie stars who all sing live for Hooper’s movie include Hugh Jackman as convict Jean Valjean, Russell Crowe as the relentless Inspector Javert, Anne Hathaway as Cosette’s doomed mother Fantine, Amanda Seyfried as Cosette in her older years and Eddie Redmayne as Cosette’s love interest Marius. Should we keep going? Ok, there’s also Helena Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen as greedy innkeepers the Thenardiers, as well as stage actors Aaron Tveit and Samantha Barks playing friends of Marius.
“Les Miserables” hasn’t seemed to miss a step yet in ramping up our anticipation for its Christmas release. See the full poster below.
