Brie Larson has landed the lead role in indie “Short Term 12″, according to Deadline. Destin Cretton won the Nicholl Screenwriting Fellowship for his screenplay, which he will also direct. Larson will play a counselor for troubled kids at a foster home, who suffers from her own tragic past and struggles to feel worthy of counseling others.

Larson starred opposite Rooney Mara in indie “Tanner Hall” and played Envy Adams in Edgar Wright’s “Scott Pilgrim vs the World” and is one of the fastest rising young actresses of the moment after turning in a breakout role opposite Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum in surprise hit “21 Jump Street.” She recently wrapped Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s directorial debut “Don Jon’s Addiction” opposite Scarlett Johansson and is currently filming “The Spectacular Now” opposite Miles Teller and Shailene Woodley.
