Cobie Smulders aka S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Maria Hill in “The Avengers”, is negotiating to star in comedy “Starbuck”, according to Variety. Vince Vaughn and Chris Pratt have already been set to star in the remake of the French-Canadian film that original director Ken Scott is helming.

Vaughn will play a familiar man-child archetype audiences are used to from him, this time as a middle-aged man who learns that, as a sperm donor, he has fathered 533 children. As he dodges thugs to whom he owes money and over 100 of his biological children begin clamoring for the identity of “Starbuck”, the pseudonym he used when donating sperm, all while his girlfriend becomes pregnant and decides he’s not mature enough to be a father, he must decide whether or not to step up and reveal his identity. Pratt will play his lawyer who has a large brood of his own and Smulders will be the pregnant girlfriend. Filming is set for later this year.

Though her role was pretty serious in Joss Whedon’s all-star superhero team-up, Smulders is no stranger to comedy as the star of CBS’ long-running hit comedy “How I Met Your Mother”, which is now heading into its 9th season. Smulders used her summer hiatus from the show to shoot Lasse Hallström’s Nicholas Sparks adaptation “Safe Haven” opposite Julianne Hough and Josh Duhamel, as well as ensemble comedy “They Came Together” with Paul Rudd and Amy Poehler. Being signed to 9 Marvel movies, Smulders is expected to show up in various future installments, but most certainly in “The Avengers 2.”
